Our friend, Steven David, is stepping down as Mayor Whitmire’s Chief Operations Officer and transitioning into an advisory role on the Mayor’s team.

The Houston Police Officers’ Union has had the privilege of working closely with Steven for several years. Throughout that time, he has always been accessible, responsive, and willing to assist whenever called upon. His professionalism and commitment to serving the City of Houston have made him a valued partner to our officers.

While we’ll miss working with him in his current capacity, we look forward to continuing our strong relationship as he begins this new chapter.

We wish Steven and his family nothing but the very best and thank him for his continued service to our city. Houston is better because of dedicated public servants like Steven David.

The Texas Commission on Law Enforcement was honored to present the State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor to Officer Javier Carruyo and Andrew Cole of the Houston Police Department.

The pair of officers neutralized an armed suspect that kidnapped his spouse and young child. A chase had occurred and the suspect fired shots at the responding officers. The vehicle pursuit ended following a successful PIT maneuver and the two hostages were rescued without further harm.
