Today I joined law enforcement officials to celebrate the success of Harris County's Promise for Pay Parity. One year ago, we ranked 19th in pay among Texas' largest agencies. Today, we're proud to rank 4th — moving in the right direction and cutting turnover by over 50%, so our most experienced officers stay right here in Harris County.

Commissioner Lesley Briones will announce major milestones in Harris County law enforcement recruitment and retention following the passage of pay parity in 2025.

Commissioner Briones championed pay parity for County law enforcement agencies to keep experienced officers on our streets, protecting our more than 5 million residents and preventing the County from losing more officers to surrounding agencies paying substantially more.

Harris County law enforcement leaders will join Commissioner Briones to highlight recent data showing a dramatic turnaround that will keep our communities safer.

Over the next week, we will finish installing air conditioning in the homes of Precinct 4 residents who are suffering through brutal summer temperatures.

This collaboration with Daikin Comfort, along with the hundreds of AC units we have delivered through Cool 4 the Summer, is helping families across the precinct stay cool through the hottest months of the year.

Many thanks to Daikin for their incredible commitment to our community.

This morning, I had the honor of welcoming nearly 300 of Alief ISD's newest educators to the district. As a mother and former teacher, I can't thank them enough for their impact on the next generation of leaders and their commitment to being all in for Alief!
