Scammers are putting artificial intelligence to work - and it's costing victims millions.

FBI Indianapolis Special Agent in Charge Timothy O'Malley joined WRTV's Kara Kenney to discuss the rise in AI-related scams, including deepfake videos, cloned voices, and fraudulent investment schemes.

The FBI received more than 22,000 AI-related scam complaints in 2025, with losses approaching $893 million.

FBI Indianapolis remembers Special Agent Raymond J. Caffrey who died in 1933 after becoming one of the victims of the “Kansas City Massacre.”

Special Agent Caffrey, two local police detectives, and the Special Agent in Charge of the Kansas City Field Office reported to Union Station to meet two other FBI agents and Police Chief Otto Reed of McAlester, OK, who were returning escapee Frank Nash to the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth, KS.

While entering a car, they were fired upon by a group trying to free Nash. Two special agents were wounded while Nash, Chief Reed, the two Kansas City detectives, and Special Agent Caffrey were killed. https://ow.ly/ZRwp50ZcJju

**Missing Teen Located**

FBI Indianapolis assisted the Aurora Police Department and the Greenwood Police Department in response to the report of missing teen Kaylee Bickers, who was the subject of a Silver Alert.

Specialized FBI support included CAST (Cellular Analysis Survey Team), CARD (Child Abduction Response Deployment), and FBI VCAC (Violent Crimes Against Children) providing technical, investigative, and coordination assistance to support local search efforts.

Happy to report Kaylee has been located and is safe!

This effort reflects the strong partnership between federal and local law enforcement in urgent missing person cases, ensuring rapid deployment of resources when they are needed most.

Today, the announced the launch of its Most Wanted Fraudsters List, a new wanted list dedicated to publicly identifying individuals charged with defrauding the American people.

Khalid Ahamad, 55 years old, of Little Elm, Texas, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit...

Khalid Ahamad, 55 years old, of Little Elm, Texas, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for conspiracy to commit wire fraud on Wednesday in the Northern District of Indiana.

According to court documents, Ahamad knowingly conspired with others to defraud victims throughout the United States including a victim company in Fort Wayne.

Ahamad and his conspirators engaged in several fraud schemes, including business email compromise schemes, unemployment benefits fraud from state agencies, and Small Business Administration loan fraud.

Ahamad was ordered to pay over $2.6 million in restitution to the victims of the fraud schemes.

This case was investigated by FBI Indianapolis, with assistance from The Colony, Texas, Police Department.
