Yesterday, Sept. 21, 2026, IHCDA issued a letter via e-mail to all disaster survivors who (1) are actively using a hotel voucher AND (2) whose hotel voucher expires within the next 7 days. That letter states that they are approved for up to an additional 30 days if they are still displaced and can request an extension. There is no “reapplication” or “reassessment.” Survivors do not submit new applications/affidavits to IHCDA and do not need to call 211.

To extend your hotel stay:
-Present the letter to the hotel where you are currently staying.
-If the hotel can extend: The hotel manager calls the IHCDA hotel call line to confirm the extension. IHCDA will issue an extension voucher to the hotel to reconfirm the rates and to extend the check-out date.
-If the hotel is unable to extend: The survivor may use the next 30 days at a different hotel and is instructed to call the IHCDA hotel call line directly to get assistance in transferring and identifying a new hotel.

Meet Gracie, a 1‑year‑old black Lab who recently joined the Indiana State Police and the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. She was trained in Indianapolis to help investigators during searches by locating items that might be hidden from view. Gracie also provides comfort to children and staff who are involved in difficult cases.

We are grateful to have Gracie supporting this important work.
