Indiana spent an estimated $8.2 billion in tax incentives, subsidies, and breaks for the Amazon Data Services project in New Carlisle - the biggest known tax incentive package in the country for a single data center project.

Think about how those tax dollars could be spent on our public schools, roads, and healthcare. Instead, your money is going into the pockets of Big Tech billionaires who don't care about the impact of their data centers on your electricity bills.

Earlier this year, we offered an amendment to prohibit the state from handing out sales tax breaks to data centers. House Republicans voted no (we'll share the vote sheet breakdown for that in the comments).

During the upcoming 2027 session, we must pass legislation to rein in these outrageous taxpayer giveaways to companies that simply do not need them.

During the 2025 budget session, Gov. Braun cut state funding for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, switching to private donations. But the administration hasn't raised nearly the same amount of money to fund the program as the state previously allocated in the budget.

In Dolly's honor, we are continuing to call for Gov. Braun and the Republican supermajority to match Parton's contribution and return Indiana to our previous funding levels for the Imagination Library - so that we set up more kids for success in school and beyond.

Now that 99% of power has been restored to Northwest Indiana, it's time to talk about accountability for NIPSCO.

Today, our representatives from Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties called on the Indiana General Assembly to investigate the disaster of the past two weeks in the Region.

We can't fix this catastrophe or prevent it from happening again if we do not investigate the experience on the ground for residents and require that NIPSCO appear for questioning by lawmakers.

Hoosiers! A Category B Emergency Disaster Declaration has been approved for Indiana, mobilizing Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) resources. This designation provides funding for protective measures and government response. It does not include direct individual financial assistance or grants for property repairs. Gov. Braun will complete a request in the next few days for a Major Disaster Declaration. If granted, this would unlock direct individual and household financial assistance.

Right now, the state is offering individual assistance. Indiana's State Disaster Relief Fund will provide up to $5,000 in emergency aid grants to Hoosiers in need. This funding will help families get the basics like clothing and food while they are displaced from their homes. Hoosiers can call 211 for more information or visit the link below:

We are keeping all the Hoosiers impacted by yesterday's storms in our thoughts and prayers and are saddened by the loss of life across our state.

NEW: NIPSCO wants $38 million from you for three months of running and fixing two coal units that don't work.

$2.8 million of that is pure profit for the company.

These units were supposed to shut down in December. Instead, the White House ordered that they be kept open, even though one of the units has been broken since last summer. NIPSCO says it's ready to keep these units going for another 3 years.

Washington made the call. You get the bill.
