🚑 Medical Monday: Stroke Awareness 🚑
A stroke is a medical emergency where every second matters. Recognizing the signs early and calling 911 immediately can save a life and reduce long term disability.
🧠 Know the signs. Think BE FAST:
B – Balance: Sudden loss of balance or coordination
E – Eyes: Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes
F – Face: One side of the face drooping
A – Arms: Weakness or numbness in one arm
S – Speech: Slurred or difficult speech
T – Time: Time to call 911 immediately
⚠️ Other possible symptoms include:
• Sudden severe headache
• Confusion or trouble understanding
• Numbness, especially on one side of the body
⏱️ Why it matters:
Stroke treatments are time sensitive. The faster you call 911, the sooner care can begin, which can significantly improve outcomes.
✅ What you can do:
• Learn the signs
• Act quickly
• Never drive yourself. Call 911 so EMS can begin care right away
