We have several rounds of thunderstorms entering the forecast starting late tonight and continuing through Friday. The initial activity will begin over northwest Iowa tonight with a low severe risk, before expanding into western and northern Iowa throughout Thursday, where we have a Marginal Severe Risk (Level 1 of 5) for isolated strong storms capable of producing damaging winds and hail. By Friday, thunderstorm chances become more widespread across the entire state, elevated to a Slight Severe Risk (Level 2 of 5) as ingredients fall into place for stronger storm development. Any storm over the next few days will have plenty of moisture to work with, so isolated localized flash flooding will be possible due to locally heavy rainfall.
