Today, we want to recognize and thank Principal SARC Lynnette Iams for her dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the Iowa National Guard’s SAPR program.

Lynnette has been instrumental in moving our program forward in such a short time. Her time, energy, and investment in our team and the Service members we support have made a lasting impact on the program and its continued growth. She’s grown with the program over her time in the Guard and in her civilian role. She’s made key partnerships that will forever help those victims in the Guard be helped when they need it the most.

As Lynnette prepares to pass the torch to Ms. Jennifer Nissen on October 1, we extend our sincere gratitude for all she has contributed and the foundation she has helped build.

Thank you, Lynnette, for your leadership, your service, and your commitment to those we serve.

Your impact will continue well beyond this transition.

Our Iowa City Readiness Center Civilian Team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our community partners and military partners who invested their time, energy, and expertise in making our Su***de Prevention Resource Fair a success.

The Passport to Prevention approach gave Service members an opportunity to engage with resources in a meaningful way—not just by stopping at a table, but by learning more about how each partner can be part of a stronger support network. We saw partners truly dig in, connect, and explore the many ways they can help.
And our Service members had something to say, too. A quick look at the feedback tells us they found the event helpful and would like to see more opportunities like this in the future.

To our community partners: we value these partnerships and hope this is just the beginning of continued collaboration. Together, we can build stronger connections, increase awareness, and make it easier for our Service members to know where to turn when they—or someone they care about—needs support. All vines of prevention were considered looking at how to make this happen and we appreciate your openness to look at your service and our soldiers when planning this.

Thank you for making the time to invest in our Service members. Your presence matters. Your passion matters. Your partnership matters. And the connections you make can matter when it counts.

🦋 Smart Defense for Men is a self-defense education and training program designed to increase bystander awareness and teach intervention techniques. Guided by trained professionals, Smart Defense for Men combines three martial arts—Krav Maga, Muay Thai, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This produces a strength-based approach that educates and empowers men with the tools to protect their lives and families. The hope is to build stronger and safer communities, and to end the cycle of abuse. ~ Ms. Clare Moeller

Join us and our community partners for a Su***de Prevention Resource Fair designed for Iowa National Guard members and families in the surrounding area.

Sexual violence can have profound and lasting impacts on survivors. RAINN reports that 33% of women who are r***d contemplate su***de, and 13% attempt su***de. Understanding these connections helps us recognize risk, reduce barriers to support, and connect survivors with resources before a crisis occurs. (RAINN)
