🦋 Sexual violence affects every community, every age group, and people of all genders. It can happen in person, online, or through technology—and is often perpetrated by someone the survivor knows.

The impact extends far beyond the moment of harm, affecting physical health, mental well-being, relationships, education, employment, and overall quality of life.

Prevention starts with promoting consent, challenging harmful norms, creating safe environments, and supporting survivors. We all have a role to play in ending sexual violence.

New research shows victim-blaming attitudes can directly impact whether bystanders intervene in situations involving sexual violence on college campuses.

Victim-blaming places responsibility on the survivor instead of the person who caused harm — increasing trauma and discouraging reporting.

Creating safer communities starts with:
• Challenging harmful comments
• Supporting survivors without judgment
• Recognizing coercive behavior
• Holding offenders accountable

Culture change starts with education, empathy, and action.
