Fast as the wind and possessing a strong collaborative spirit, today we recognize CDT Jack Mahoney, a MSIII soon to be MSIV from Waccabuc, New York. CDT Mahoney, who joined our program as a freshman in the Fall of 2017, is currently pursuing a B.S. in Real Estate Development from the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. For his superior skills in management and attention to detail, CDT Mahoney recently assumed the role as BN S1 for the upcoming Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 year. The sky's the limit for Jack, and he knows the sky is where he belongs. After graduating from Air Assault School this past summer, his experience affirmed his aspiration to branch Aviation and pursue a career as an Army Aviator. We are thrilled to count him as a program member, but most importantly, a member of the Trojan Family. We can’t wait to see the good work you will do over the Summer and we look forward to the outstanding work you will do in the Fall. Soon, we hope to see you #FlyTheAirplane. Fight On, Jack! ✌️

Social distancing and stay at home orders may make our lives different. However, it also afforded us an opportunity to develop some of the interests we had.
-
We are not only using the time to do PT individually, using zoom to do labs and classes, but we are also trying to relax and focusing on our mental well-beings!

Happy Friday! Cadets enjoyed a sunny lab this morning working on ambushes, EPW, aid & litter, and casualty collection points. Cadet Beyer did a great job giving instruction, and all the MS3 squad leaders worked hard on leading their squads through the practical exercises. Allow me to introduce: 1LT Nailing, USC ’16.
1LT Nailin is PCSing from 101st Airborne, moving on to a new Chapter of his carrer!

-What is one thing that you miss about USC/USC ROTC ?

“I miss the Trojan pride and the balance of being a cadet, student, athlete (for a little bit) and Greek life leader all at once. It made for some late nights that taught me how to work hard.”✌️
-If you can give one advice for current Cadets, what would it be?

“Current cadets should try their absolute hardest at everything they compete in for ROTC. Don’t be afraid to dream big. I had grand aspirations as a cadet of being active infantry, going to ranger school and eventually crossing over to higher levels. It can all come true if you believe in yourself and refuse to fail. That said, I had an awesome time in college. Make time for both.”✌️

-One thing in the Army that motivates you everyday?

“I hope to be on the cutting edge of America’s strategic interests someday. I have deployed twice, and am still hungry for more. Fight on!”✌️

Current Cadets, feel free to reach out to him if you have any questions!

Today’s Cadet spotlight:
CDT Ewing, from Venice, FL.

CDT Ewing is a MSIV Cadet. He is one of the top Cadets in his class.
-
CDT Ewing served as Trojan Battlion Executive Officer and currently the Assistant S3. He is one of the most competent Cadets in the Battlion for the last three and half years.
-
Upon graduation, CDT Ewing will be serving as an Infantry Officer.
-
He is currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Economics.
-
"Since I was in middle school, I've always wanted to serve my country and follow in the footsteps of my late grandfather, Ted Ewing, a former infantry officer of the 2nd Armored Division. Although his time in the military was brief, he continued to hold on to the Army values and made a career of public service in the Florida state legislature. For me, serving as an infantry officer allows me to honor the legacy of my grandfather and to further inspire others who might serve in the future."
-
Outside of ROTC, CDT Ewing enjoys boxing, surfing, and exploring the city of LA.
-
Only a little bit over three months until the MSIVs commission as Army Officers, who would you like to be in the spot light before they graduate?✌️
