💙🧡 WYES Hard Hat Highlight! 💙🧡

As we wrap up another incredible school year, we are excited to recognize our final WYES Hard Hat Highlight recipient of the year, Mrs. Suzanne Boggs! 👷‍♀️✨

Mrs. Boggs began this school year as an instructional assistant and quickly stepped into a new role as a full-time substitute teacher for a fourth-grade classroom. Throughout this transition, she has shown tremendous dedication, flexibility, and commitment to both students and staff.

Not only has she done a wonderful job supporting and leading her students each day, but she is also close to completing her degree in elementary education—reflecting her passion for learning and her commitment to the field. Her care for students and willingness to step up wherever needed have made a meaningful impact at Waverly Yowell Elementary this year.

Mrs. Boggs has truly been an important part of our WYES crew, and we are excited for all that the future holds for her in education. We look forward to the many ways she will continue to make a difference in the years ahead! 💙🧡

Thank you, Mrs. Boggs, for your hard work, heart, and dedication to our students and school community!

Sponsored by the Virginia Council for Economic Education, the Stock Market Game gave students the opportunity to sharpen their financial decision-making and investment skills while competing against other schools in the region.

Last night, these outstanding students were recognized for their hard work and achievement at a reception and awards ceremony at JMU.

We are incredibly proud of the dedication, teamwork, and financial skills they demonstrated throughout the competition.

Madison County Public Schools is excited to announce several leadership appointments for the 2026-2027 school year! 📣

Effective July 1, Kendall Fears will serve as principal of Waverly Yowell Elementary, replacing Pattie Rees, who will transition to a new role in Central Office as Director of Instruction and Grant Writing.

A graduate of Madison County High School, Ms. Fears earned both her undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Radford University. She began her career as a kindergarten teacher and has since served as Dean of Students and Assistant Principal, building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while supporting student success and positive school culture.

“Relationships are at the heart of education,” said Ms. Fears. “I believe every child deserves to feel known, valued, and supported. I look forward to building strong partnerships with our students, staff, families, and community while helping all students grow and achieve at high levels.”

We are also pleased to announce that Carrie Sacra, currently assistant principal at William Wetsel Middle School, will become assistant principal at Waverly Yowell Elementary.

Replacing Mrs. Sacra at William Wetsel Middle School will be Gail Temple, currently assistant principal at Madison County High School.

Please join us in congratulating these outstanding leaders as they begin their new roles serving the students, staff, and families of Madison County!👏🎉🍎

This week at Wetsel Middle School, we celebrated our AMAZING teachers and staff during Teacher Appreciation Week with an adventure-themed week full of fun, gratitude, and appreciation! 🛣️✨

Our theme focused on how our teachers make learning such an adventure while helping guide our students down the road to success each and every day. From thoughtful treats to special surprises, it was a week dedicated to recognizing the incredible impact our teachers have on our school community.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this celebration possible: our wonderful PTO, FCCLA/FBLA students, school counselors, and administration. Your support, generosity, and hard work helped make our teachers feel truly appreciated! ❤️🍎
