The Dane County Board of Supervisors is a body of government comprising 37 elected supervisors from each of the districts in the county. The Board acts similarly to the state legislature in that in is the policy-making body of the County government. It establishes county ordinances, levies taxes, passes laws concerning law enforcement and appropriates money for services. We expect participants wil

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Johnson. His lasting impact on Dane County will be felt for generations to come. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.

🔴⚫️🟢 Yesterday, County Board Chair Patrick Miles spoke alongside state, county, and city leaders and organizers at the Juneteenth Flag Raising ceremony at the City-County Building, organized by the Kujichagulia-Madison Center for Self Determination. Several county board supervisors also joined in attendance to mark the occasion.

📅 The Dane County Board will officially recognize Juneteenth at its regularly scheduled meeting on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

Dane County Parks and the City of Madison Parks are offering a permit-free weekend on June 6th and 7th. Many activities that normally require a permit will be free so Dane County Park visitors can try out new activities. This includes:

⛵ Lake Access
🐕 Dog Parks
🥏 Disc Golf
🚵🏾 Mountain Bike Trails
🐎 Equestrian Trails
🛥️ Tenney Locks

The Dane County Park System does not require an entry fee and is always free to visit. Some activities require a permit and the fees help us maintain amenities for those activities. If you try out a permitted activity this weekend and enjoy it, you can purchase a daily or annual pass online from www.reservedane.com.

🏳️‍🌈 Yesterday, members of the Dane County Board joined County Executive Melissa Agard, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, and other local leaders at the Madison Municipal Building for the annual Pride Flag raising ceremony, kicking off Pride Month in Dane County. A Progress Pride Flag was also raised at the City-County Building.

Last week, County Board Chair Patrick Miles joined members of the 2025–2026 Dane County Extension Youth Governance Program (YGP) cohort at the Henry Vilas Zoo for their Sustainability Safari! 🌱

Hosted by the YGP cohort in partnership with the Dane County Department of Waste + Renewables, the free public event featured hands-on activities and interactive stations focused on food waste reduction, composting, recycling, and other sustainable practices.

🏆 Chair Miles also presented certificates to YGP members in recognition of their service throughout the program year. Congratulations to this year’s cohort on a successful event and a great year of civic leadership!

🗓️ YGP members will present their Sustainability Safari project to the full county board this Thursday, June 4.
