CREATIVE COPY EDITION #38 is out now!
There are twelve tribal communities that share boundaries with the State of Wisconsin, eleven of which are federally recognized. With deep respect for the Indigenous people and cultures that strengthen Wisconsin, we've compiled a resource guide specifically for Indigenous Artists.
The photo features FY26 FAA Mentor Artist April Stone's apprentice Dawn White removing ash bark in the winter, which will later be used to make Black Ash baskets.
"This freshly harvest ash log needed to have its bark removed with a drawknife due to being harvested when the tree was dormant. Dawn was a taking a turn removing some bark on this chilly, wintry/rainy day." - April Stone
