During the third week of May each year, we celebrate National EMS Week — a time to honor our EMS clinicians and highlight the vital services they provide to our community every single day.

EMS care actually begins long before the tones ever drop. Our team is actively involved throughout the community, sharing injury prevention and illness recognition education in daycares, schools, and senior centers. We provide CPR and First Aid training to empower ordinary citizens to deliver lifesaving care before an ambulance arrives.

Our dispatchers serve as a true lifeline, offering calm, compassionate reassurance while providing critical pre-arrival instructions to panicked callers. Highly trained EMRs, EMTs, AEMTs, Paramedics, and Community Paramedics respond to calls for help and deliver lifesaving care when it matters most. Behind the scenes, administrators, billing personnel, and office staff help keep the foundation strong, ensuring our crews have the tools, resources, and support they need to serve on the streets each day.

This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” perfectly reflects what EMS is all about. Good outcomes take an entire team working together with a shared purpose.

This week, our community truly showed up and showed out for our crews. Local partners showered our teams with meals, snacks, and sweet treats. Hospitals across the state welcomed crews into their ambulance bays with pizzas, gift bags, and encouragement to enjoy during their long trips back home.

To everyone who helped make this week special — thank you. We sincerely appreciate the love, generosity, and support you showed our team! ~ Joey & Amanda Newton

Every May during National EMS Week, providers from across the state gather at the Capitol for the annual “Parade of Lights” celebration. Today, we joined colleagues from across Arkansas for a meaningful time of reflection, remembrance, and celebration. This year’s theme, “Improving Outcomes, Together,” perfectly reflects the shared mission that unites us all — working side by side to serve our communities and provide the highest quality care possible.

We had the opportunity to invest in the next generation of healthcare professionals today during the Disaster Simulation Exercise at SAU. Paramedic Chuck Creed and EMT Katelyn Reeves coached nursing students as they learned to triage patients in a mass casualty incident (MCI) scenario. It was a great day of hands-on learning and teamwork. Strong collaborative partnerships like these help ensure the citizens of our county receive high-quality care when disaster strikes. 🚑🩺💙💛

We were excited to present Taelyn Lemons (pictured) and Si’Niya Williams with “Everyday Hero” awards today. The girls, students at Magnolia Middle School, recently provided aid to a fellow student who was experiencing a seizure. Rather than turning their heads and ignoring the situation, the girls stepped in and helped out while waiting for the school nurse and EMS to arrive. (Si’Niya was not available for a photo today, but we are very proud of her as well!)

We had a great time today helping parents give their kids the “gift of a safe ride” for Valentine’s Day! Our CCAS car seat technicians teamed up with Arkansas Children’s Hospital to offer a “Car Seat Check” event for our community. Car seats can be challenging to install correctly, but we are here to help you! If you have questions, please reach out to us! We would love to help you keep your child safe! 🚗🚑🚙
