September is Direct Support Professional Recognition Month and MARCA Industries celebrated the wonderful direct support professionals who work with the people we serve.

We took time out on Friday to enjoy lunch together and recognize the good work that our DSPs do. We appreciate each of our DSPs and the care and compassion they have for the friends that we serve.

Our DSP crew includes Marc Thomas, Hilda Martin, Karen Harris, Linda Fraizer, Anna Walter, Amy Moody, Wally Quillman, Jasmine Valdez, Sam Sellers, Connie Martinez, Jim Vipperman, Danielle Stepp, Jason Warwick, Joe O’Connor, and Randy Boldman.

Angie Obenour is MARCA’s adult services director. David Sharp is the DSP manager. Wanda Dobucki and Sara Lowe are DSP Leads. Heather Storer and Christy Roberts are the program coordinators. Leslie Thiel is the learning coordinator.

If you know any of these wonderful people, be sure to thank them for the good work they do to help our friends and neighbors with developmental disabilities.

Our friends and community partners with the Wyandot County Board of Developmental Disabilities and West Central Ohio Network Council of Governments (WESTCON) visited MARCA Industries on Thursday to get film footage for a documentary to highlight National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

Peyton, a young man from Wyandot County, works in MARCA’s reMARCAbly Made production studio in Marion, where he is learning how to operate the heat press printing equipment. He was the subject of the video.

Peyton displayed the skills he has learned and participated in an interview with Janel Sanning from WESTCON to talk about what he enjoys about working at reMARCAbly Made and attending day programming at MARCA.

Austin Tuttle, MARCA’s business development manager, also participated in the video shoot and interview. reMARCAbly Made Production Coordinator Joe Schofield was also featured in the video.

We thank Janel from WESTCON and Samantha Lee, Peyton’s service and support administrator at Wyandot County DD, for inviting MARCA to be part of this feature highlighting Peyton and National Disability Employment Awareness Month. We look forward to seeing the finished product.

September is the month set aside to recognize Direct Support Professionals (DSP). September 13-19 is Direct Support Professional Recognition Week.

Direct Support Professionals play a vital role in helping people with developmental, intellectual, and physical disabilities live independently and thrive within their communities.

Without the outstanding DSPs at MARCA Industries, Inc., we would not be able to provide the services, resources, and training that we offer to the people we serve.

Our DSPs are compassionate and dedicated and we thank them for the tireless work that they do on a daily basis for our friends in Marion and Morrow counties.

Our friends who attend the MARCA Industries adult day program in Morrow County have wrapped up their time partnering with the Mount Gilead Public Library and Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) to serve children and families in Morrow County. It was an honor and a pleasure to join forces with the library and CHA to give back to our community.

Over the course of the summer, we prepared a total of 4,645 breakfasts and lunches that were distributed to 929 children in Morrow County. This experience allowed our friends to enhance many skills, including teamwork, following directions, and staying focused on the tasks assigned to them.

Thanks again to the Mount Gilead Public Library and Children’s Hunger Alliance for allowing us to be part of this community outreach program.

Skills can be learned and developed in different ways. This week, our friend Dustin helped MARCA Industries Director of Contract Operations Matt Stone and Direct Support Professionals Manager David Sharp repair an office table.

Dustin likes to stay busy and help people so this project presented a perfect opportunity for him to utilize his skills in a meaningful and productive way. Thanks to Matt and David for providing this opportunity for Dustin.
