This Memorial Day, the members of the Maynard Police Department pause to honor and remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. All of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives defending our freedoms. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten.

We also take this opportunity to remember and honor all members of our department who have passed. Their service to this community, their commitment and contributions helped shape the department and the town they proudly served.

As part of this tribute, we are sharing photographs of the gravesites of those laid to rest here in our town, ensuring their memories continue to live on within the community they called home.

May we never forget the sacrifices made by all of these heroes and their families. Today, and every day, we remember them with gratitude and respect.

Today, Chief Chris Troiano and Sgt. Trista Manchuso proudly participated in Boston's Run To Remember alongside thousands of runners honoring the brave law enforcement officers and first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
This yearly event is a powerful reminder of the strength, dedication, and sacrifice shared throughout the public safety community. We were honored to represent our department and our community while remembering those who gave their lives in service to others.
Our thoughts are also with the members of the Boston Fire Department and the family of Firefighter Robert Kilduff Jr., who tragically lost his life in the line of duty last night. His sacrifice and service will not be forgotten.

DPW – Emergency notification – Water and Sewer Department. We are reporting a vehicle accident that has caused significant damage to a fire Hydrant on Great Road and Old Mill Road. Currently, the Department of Public Works Water and Sewer division is working to shut down water in the area to isolate the problem. A significant number of customers will be affected by low water pressure and discolored water as a result of the issue. Customers on Great Road between Marlboro Street and the Sudbury town line, as well as Old Mill Road will be without water until this break is repaired. The severity of the damage is still being assessed. This repair will take all day and possibly continue into the night in order for water to be restored. Great road traffic will be detoured, and this will cause major traffic delays in this area. Please be patient as crews work to reduce the impact of the emergency while working on conducting repairs as required.

Today, members of the Maynard Police Department stood alongside law enforcement agencies from across the country to honor the life and service of Massachusetts State Trooper Kevin Trainor during wake services held in his memory.

Police funeral arrangements carry deep significance within the law enforcement profession. They are a solemn tribute to an officer’s dedication, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting the communities we serve. These ceremonies reflect the unity and brotherhood shared among first responders, while providing support and respect to the officer’s family, friends, and fellow colleagues during a time of profound loss.

Deputy Chief Sutherland and Lieutenant Cushing were present during today’s services, joining members of national agencies spanning, among others, states across New England, Florida, Georgia, and Texas. The overwhelming presence of law enforcement from near and far serves as a powerful reminder that the bonds of service and sacrifice extend well beyond state lines.

The Maynard Police Department proudly stands with the Massachusetts State Police, and continues to support the family, friends, and fellow troopers of Trooper Trainor during this difficult time.
