This past week, The Woods at Merrimack Retirement Community held its annual health and wellness fair, and the Methuen Fire Department was there. Members of our department joined several health and wellness vendors at the event. Pictured here, Firefighter Binh Le speaks to seniors about fire safety, assistance, and prevention. These types of events are great for seniors to get to know our firefighters. We appreciated being a part of it.

Please join us on Friday, 9/11/26 as we honor the many lives lost on September 11, 2001. This Remembrance Ceremony recognizes the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 and gives our community a chance to mourn and remember.

Thanks to Methuen resident Bob Hamman for bringing pizzas to our Central Station. The gesture was a thank you to our firefighters on Engine 1 and Ambulance 1 for quick and effective action during a recent emergency call. It’s part of our job, each day, to respond to such calls, and we truly appreciate Bob’s generosity.

Congratulations to our own Trevor Abdallah on his graduation from the Massachusetts 50-day Career Recruit Firefighting Training Program. He was part of Career Recruit Class #341. Upon successful completion of the Career Recruit Program, all students have met the national standards of NFPA 1010, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications, and are certified to the levels of Firefighter I/II and Hazardous Materials First Responder Operations by the Massachusetts Fire Training Council, which is accredited by the National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications. Congratulations to Trevor on a job well done!

Our firefighters not only respond to emergency calls and help protect our citizens, they also protect their own house. Sunday mornings are set aside for washing, waxing, and greasing all of the ladders on our ladder truck. Members of our department are constantly making sure that our equipment is in top condition so it works properly at those moments when it is needed most. Chief Dave Toto and the men and women of the Methuen Fire Department mourn the loss of Retired Firefighter Peter "Pete" O'Loughlin who passed away on July 6 at age 68. Pete was a dedicated firefighter known for his passion for service and sly sense of humor. Those who served with Pete remember him as a driven and motivated firefighter, always there when needed and ready to help a fellow firefighter or resident in need. His love of the job was always evident as he came to the station each day with a tireless work ethic. We send our prayers and condolences to Pete's family, loved ones, and may friends.

The Methuen Fire Department hopes you will participate in this wonderful and charitable day at Texas Roadhouse in Methuen on July 20. It will definitely be a fun time for all to enjoy and will raise needed funds to help our troops and Veterans.

This past week, members of the Methuen Fire Department gathered to pay tribute and bid farewell to Deputy Chief Scott Sullivan, who served our department and the people of Methuen for over three decades. The man known as Sully brought a direct, professional, and old-school approach to his work on the department. He stood by his fellow firefighters and was always dependable and reliable - a true rock of a man and firefighter. We know that Scott’s son, Lt. Ryan Sullivan, will carry on his fine legacy. Wishing Deputy Chief Sullivan the very best in a well-deserved retirement.

This past Friday, our department was happy to once again take part in the Touch a Truck event at Texas Roadhouse in Methuen. It’s always great to get involved with this event, especially with the people at Texas Roadhouse who are constantly doing great things in our community, definitely a fun time for everyone.

Patty recently stopped by our Central Station and left some incredible food and groceries for our firefighters to enjoy.
