Please note: We cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate guided tours that arrive during our winter hours without an advanced registration. Guided tours will be given priority over audio tours. It is best to give advance notice of arrival for an audio tour.

Wreath Sponsors Needed!!

We are still looking for 3 more wreath sponsors for our 7th annual Wreaths on Parade Live Auction.

Being a wreath sponsor for the Milton House Museum's 7th Annual Wreaths on Parade is a fun opportunity for local businesses, organizations, and individuals to show off their creativity, while getting into the holiday spirit!

A wreath sponsorship is $30, and includes an artificial wreath for the sponsor to decorate. Those wreaths are then displayed in the museum from November 17th - December 3rd, when they are auctioned off during our Wreaths on Parade event!

Come visit us! The Milton House is the only certified Underground Railroad site in Wisconsin that is open to the public for tours. This time of year, guided tours are available by appointment only. We also have a self-guided audio tour option, but PLEASE CALL AHEAD FOR EITHER TOUR OPTION. We can't put you on a walk-in audio tour if we already have a scheduled group or school tour going through the museum. WE ARE CLOSED SATURDAY-MONDAY. 🐈 Happy National Cat Day from the Milton House Museum!

Look closely at the stairs in this vintage Milton House postcard...you’ll spot a feline making a little history of its own! 🐾

This kitty likely belonged to Dr. Rachel Salisbury, one of the founders of the Milton Historical Society. A trailblazing educator, historian, and devoted animal enthusiast, Rachel was also known affectionately around Milton as “The Cat Lady.” After retiring from teaching in 1954, she became a nationally known cat fancier, running Wanaki Cattery from her home on Madison Avenue. She even developed a new Persian cat color: the Cameo, a pinky-peach shade recognized by the American Cat Fanciers Association in 1959!

There is something special about witnessing history as it happens. Today, the Milton House Museum wants to congratulate the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team on winning their history making WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP!

Last night, The Brewers captured their first-ever World Series Championship in franchise history, bringing an end to a 57-season wait and adding a remarkable new chapter to Milwaukee's baseball story.

Founded in 1969 as the Seattle Pilots before relocating to Milwaukee, the franchise has spent decades chasing baseball's ultimate prize. In 1982, the Brewers came agonizingly close, losing the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals. For the past 44 years, fans and players have been BREW-lieving, and waiting for someday, and finally, someday has become today!

The moments we celebrate today become the stories we tell tomorrow, passed down from one generation to the next. Just as we look back on the people and events that shaped our communities, future generations of Brewers fans will remember where they were when Milwaukee finally won it all.

At the Milton House Museum, we see every day how history connects generations and gives communities a shared sense of identity. And while our work focuses on preserving the stories of the past, we know that history is always being made around us!

Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers, their players, coaches, organization, and loyal fans! After 57 seasons, the wait is over. Milwaukee has its championship, and baseball history has a brand-new chapter!

ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨 Regarding our 2026 A Christmas Carol Play

We have been honored to work with Creative Outlets Theatre to bring the beloved holiday classic A Christmas Carol play to life at the Milton House Museum for over a decade. It has truly become a holiday tradition for so many, and we love the way the community has shown up for this play.

Creative Outlets Theatre has been putting on this play for over 30 years, and after a long and successful run, they have decided to take a hiatus for the 2026 holiday season. Sadly, this means that Scrooge and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Future will not be visiting the Milton House Museum this holiday season.

For now, this is simply a hiatus, with tentative plans to bring the show back to the museum in 2027, but the official decision on that has not yet been made. We understand that this news will be disappointment for people. However, it is important to allow Creative Outlets Theatre time to decide what is best for their actors, and the Milton House Museum remains grateful for their years of work on putting this show on at the museum, and is supportive of the decisions that they have made regarding this production moving forward. We will make an announcement regarding the 2027 show in due course.

This decision was not made lightly, and both organizations remain deeply grateful to the love and warmth shown by the community for this show over the years. It truly was a magical run for this show.

While the museum may not be able to offer A Christmas Carol play in 2026, the museum remains committed to bringing holiday cheer to the museum! This year we are offering a brand new Christmas Twilight Tour on select weekends in November and December, and will once again be hosting our 7th annual Wreaths on Parade Live Auction event on December 3rd.

The Milton House Museum will be opening late today, Wednesday October 28th. Due to an offsite meeting, the museum will open at 12 pm today. Audio tours will be available at 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2 pm today. The museum will resume its regular business hours tomorrow, Thursday, October 29th.

Due to an offsite meeting tomorrow morning, Wednesday October 28th, the Milton House Museum will be opening late. The museum will open at 12 pm tomorrow, instead of the normal 10 am. We will offer audio tours at 12 pm, 1 pm, and 2 pm.

The museum will resume it's regular business hours of 10 am - 3 pm on Thursday, October 29th.

We are hoping to be able to put this event on in 2027.

🚨 We have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming Gothics After Dark event, originally scheduled for this Saturday October 24th.

Due to other events happening in the area, including the Milwaukee Brewers playing in Game 2 of the World Series in Milwaukee during the scheduled date and time, and it made the most sense to cancel this event.

We hope to be able to put it on in 2027.

If you purchased tickets already, please watch for a refund to be issued within the next 5 - 7 business days. If you do not receive a refund for a purchased ticket within that time frame, please call the museum at 608.868.7772 to talk to a staff member.
