🏆 MCPD TAKES 1ST PLACE AT ANNUAL ROUX RUMBLE GUMBO COOK-OFF! 🥇

On Saturday, October 24, 2026, officers with the Morgan City Police Department traded in their badges for cooking utensils as they competed in the Roux Rumble Gumbo Cook-Off held at Lawrence Park in Morgan City!

The event, hosted by Ochsner Health in support of the Alzheimer's Association, brought together 15 teams competing for bragging rights and the title of best gumbo! The day was filled with delicious food, live music, a kids' fun zone, raffle prizes, and plenty of community fellowship, all while supporting a great cause.

This marked the third year that MCPD officers have participated in the competition, and we're proud to announce that for the second time, our team brought home FIRST PLACE! 🏆

With 15 teams bringing their best recipes to the table, the competition was tough, but our officers managed to cook up another winning pot of gumbo and seal the deal!

This year's event also provided a great opportunity for our officers to utilize the department's newly built Mobile Command Post and showcase it to the public. We enjoyed giving members of the community a chance to see this new addition to our department.

The Morgan City Police Department would like to extend a special thank you to Home Instead for generously sponsoring our team and making our participation in this year's competition possible. Your support of our department and the community is truly appreciated!

We would also like to thank Ochsner Health, the event organizers, all 15 participating teams, and everyone who came out to support this wonderful event. Events like these are a great reminder of what makes our community so special, bringing people together for good food, great fellowship, and an even greater cause.

Great food, great competition, and a FIRST PLACE finish for a great cause! 🏆

We look forward to seeing everyone again next year and hopefully defending our title!

🚓🚒🚑 NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY – OCTOBER 28 🇺🇸

Today, the Morgan City Police Department proudly recognizes and honors the brave men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities.

Every day, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, dispatchers, and other first responders answer the call, often putting the safety and well-being of others before their own.

Whether responding to emergencies, protecting lives, providing lifesaving care, or offering comfort during someone's most difficult moments, these dedicated professionals play an essential role in keeping our communities safe.

We believe that those who choose a career as a first responder are drawn to this profession for a reason. Somewhere along the way, each of us felt a calling to serve, to protect, to help others, and to make a difference. While our uniforms, responsibilities, and the ways we answer that calling may be different, the purpose behind what we do remains the same.

And while law enforcement, firefighters, EMS, and dispatchers may give each other a hard time from time to time, there's one thing we can all agree on: at the end of the day, we're all cut from the same cloth. We share a common bond that comes from the sacrifices we make, the challenges we face, and the understanding that when someone needs help, we will be there. When the call comes in and lives are on the line, the friendly rivalries disappear, and we stand together as one team.

Being a first responder is more than a profession. It is a commitment to service, sacrifice, and being there when others need you most.

The Morgan City Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to all first responders, especially those serving Morgan City and our surrounding communities. We are proud to stand alongside the dedicated men and women who answer the call each and every day.

To all first responders, thank you for your courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment to serving others. Regardless of the patch on your shoulder, the badge on your chest, or the uniform you wear, we are all working toward the same goal.

💙❤️🤍 Happy National First Responders Day!

⏰🍂 DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME ENDS THIS WEEKEND! 🍂⏰

The Morgan City Police Department would like to remind everyone that Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2:00 AM.

Remember to FALL BACK and set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night!

🚔 A Few Safety Reminders:

⏰ Change Your Clocks: Most smartphones and electronic devices will update automatically, but don't forget to adjust your manual clocks.

🔋 Check Your Smoke Detectors: The time change is a great opportunity to test your smoke alarms and replace batteries if needed.

🚗 Stay Alert on the Road: With the time change comes earlier sunsets. Motorists should use extra caution during evening commutes and watch for pedestrians and bicyclists.

🚶 Be Visible: If you're walking or biking after dark, wear bright or reflective clothing to help drivers see you.

😴 Get Plenty of Rest: Changes in sleep schedules can affect alertness, so give yourself time to adjust.

🍂 Enjoy that extra hour of sleep, Morgan City!
