Connecting Global Business with Opportunities in Delaware

World Trade Center Delaware was pleased to welcome Dr. Ali Çolak, Investment & Business Development Director of SoyutWind, to Delaware yesterday, September 1, for a day focused on advancing the company’s plans for the U.S. market.

Based in Ankara, Turkey, SoyutWind is a renewable energy company manufacturing wind turbines ranging from 1 kW to 2.5 MW and is exploring Delaware as a potential location for its future U.S. operations.

SoyutWind is part of the broader business network of Çolak Holding, the license holder and operator of World Trade Center Ankara. This connection adds another dimension to the growing relationship between World Trade Center Delaware and World Trade Center Ankara, bringing together the World Trade Centers Association network to support international trade, investment, and business development between Delaware and Turkey.

Over the past several months, WTC Delaware has connected Dr. Çolak with key leaders and organizations across Delaware to help support SoyutWind’s potential expansion and relocation to the state. Those introductions have developed into ongoing relationships, and during his visit, Dr. Çolak continued those conversations with representatives from WSFS Bank and CSC and met with Mike Bowman, President & CEO of Delaware Technology Park and State Director of the Delaware SBDC, discussing resources and opportunities available as SoyutWind evaluates Delaware for its U.S. operations.

Dr. Çolak also joined the WTC Delaware team at our new office at the University of Delaware’s FinTech Innovation Hub, where we continued discussions around SoyutWind’s U.S. strategy and were honored to receive a thoughtful gift commemorating his visit.

We look forward to continuing to support SoyutWind as it explores its next steps in Delaware and to further strengthening the relationship between World Trade Center Delaware and World Trade Center Ankara, while building new business connections between Delaware and Turkey. 🇺🇸🇹🇷

World Trade Center Delaware is focused on ensuring that Delaware businesses are positioned to compete, grow, and succeed in the global marketplace. Through the World Trade Centers Association’s network of more than 300 World Trade Centers across 100+ countries, we connect our members and partners to international markets, trusted business relationships, trade opportunities, and resources that can help them expand beyond Delaware.

One such opportunity: Triestespresso Expo 2026, taking place October 21–23, 2026, in Trieste, Italy, one of the leading international events dedicated to the global coffee industry.

We are currently organizing a group of Delaware and other U.S. companies interested in participating. This is not simply an opportunity to attend a trade show. It is an opportunity to build direct partnerships within the coffee ecosystem globally.

Trieste has a centuries-old connection to the global coffee trade, making the Expo an important meeting point for companies across the coffee value chain. Participants from more than 50 countries are expected to connect around sourcing, roasting, distribution, equipment, technology, retail, hospitality, innovation, sustainability, and global trade.

We're proud to share that our President, Dr. Mary Schreiber Swenson, has been invited to play a leading role at the 2026 Women Elevating Women (WEW) Conference, hosted by Women Elevating Women™.

Mary will host the VIP Women in Global Trade Breakfast and serve as Moderator of the Global Expansion Capital Stack session, bringing her expertise in trade, capital access, and women's economic empowerment to a national stage.

As President of World Trade Center Delaware, Mary leads our work on the three pillars that drive everything we do: Access to Capital. Access to Markets. Women in Trade. Through our network of over 300 World Trade Centers in 100 countries, we connect women CEOs to the global relationships and markets they need to compete internationally.

She also serves as a G20/W20 U.S. Presidency 2026 Delegate on the Entrepreneurship and Trade Working Group, helping shape global conversations on trade, entrepreneurship, and access to trade finance.
Mary was also named a 2023 Women Elevating Women™ COURAGE Pillar Honoree, recognition of the work she's done opening doors for women CEOs looking to move beyond the U.S. market and into the global economy.

"Become a beginner again." 🏔️

That's the philosophy that's carried Mary Schreiber Swenson, President of World Trade Center Delaware, through building a medical tourism company, launching and selling a vegan skincare brand, reshaping dental pricing policy across dozens of states, and summiting Mount Kilimanjaro alongside marathoners and veterans (as one of the "least likely" to make it to the top).

Her lesson from that climb? Leadership isn't about being the strongest person on the mountain but it's about helping everyone get there together.
