in 1988, NASA Michoud played a vital role in the emergency response to TACA airlines Flight 110 after the aircraft lost both engines and made an emergency landing at our facility. The aircraft was carrying crew, passengers, and cargo and within minutes of the commercial jet touching down, teams from NASA Michoud’s security, fire department, and medical clinic were on site to assist.

To this day, Captain Dardano continues to commend NASA employees for their extraordinary response and dedication that day. Recently, we had the honor of welcoming Captain Dardano and his family back to Michoud to revisit the site of the historic emergency landing and reflect on the remarkable teamwork that helped avert tragedy.

Planning is underway for our Artemis III mission, which will test the capabilities of NASA's Orion spacecraft and one or both commercial landers from Blue Origin and SpaceX as they meet and dock in Earth's orbit.

This highly complex mission will be an important step to landing astronauts on the Moon with Artemis IV in 2028. Details: https://go.nasa.gov/4dv2scO

We were honored to welcome NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman on May 7 to NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility to see how our team is helping build the future of human space exploration through Artemis.

As a key production site for NASA's SLS (Space Launch System) and Orion spacecraft, teams at Michoud are focused on hardware for upcoming Artemis missions, including next year’s Artemis III mission and beyond.

We appreciate Administrator Isaacman taking time to see firsthand the progress being made here at America's Rocket Factory as we continue building what’s next.
