Today, we celebrated the unveiling of “Voices of the People”, the first site-specific interior commission for the Council Chamber through the Percent for Art Program.

Five artists were commissioned to create original works representing each City Council district: Sean G. Clark (District A), Teneille Prosper (District B), Alina Allen (District C), Langston Allston (District D), and Hozé Da’Ra (District E).

Commissioned through the City of New Orleans Percent for Art Program and managed by Arts New Orleans, this landmark project brings the stories, cultures, and voices of New Orleans into the heart of civic space.

Thank you to the artists, community members, and all who helped bring this vision to life.

ICYMI: The Louisiana Supreme Court issued its ruling on the Orleans Parish Clerk of Court matter.

From the beginning, my position has been simple: the will of the people should not be overturned by the courts or the legislature. While I respect the Court’s decision and appreciate its rejection of allegations that the Council acted improperly, I remain disappointed by any outcome that disregards the expressed will of voters.

I know this fight was worthy and right, and I will continue focusing on our work to best represent and protect the people of New Orleans.
