⚠️ Rabies Alert ⚠️

Active rabies cases are increasing in Chenango County.

🐾 Do not touch, handle, or approach animals you do not know—even if they appear friendly or injured.

🦇 If you find a bat in your home, do not throw it away. Contact the Health Department for guidance, especially if there may have been human or pet exposure. (607) 337-1796

🐾 Keep pets up to date on rabies vaccinations.
🐾 If you are bitten or scratched, wash the area immediately and seek medical attention.

Rabies is preventable, but once symptoms develop, it is almost always fatal. Stay safe and give wildlife plenty of space.

We had a great time participating in the annual Safe Summer Fun event hosted by the PULSE Coalition this past Friday! Our team enjoyed connecting with families and engaging children with an interactive game while sharing information about staying safe and healthy this summer.

Thank you to the PULSE Coalition and all the organizations that helped make this community event a success. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!

Ticks are active in our community!
We recently partnered with the Norwich City School District CARE Program to provide training on tick safety and tick-borne illnesses.

Thank you to the students and staff for helping keep Chenango County informed, prepared, and protected this tick season! 🕷️🌿

Our CARE Program collaborated with Chenango County Public Health to assemble 3,000 tick removal kits for our community! This is the second year our students have participated in this project. Today, Magean and Claire visited the program to provide training on ticks and tick-borne illnesses, followed by a pizza luncheon! Pictured are some of the students who helped make this project a success.

Thank you for helping our students learn while making a difference in our community!
