To maintain free meals, applications for free and reduced lunch must be submitted by families every year.

Free and reduced benefit eligibility from the last school year remains in effect until mid-October. Submitting a new application early prevents any lapse in benefits. Early application submission also ensures schools qualify for state or federal programs that are determined by free and reduced percentages.

How to Apply
Applications for 2026-2027 will be accepted starting August 3. To expedite your application, we encourage you to fill out an electronic application. You only need to fill out one application for all of the members of your family.

Visit Skyward Family Access. Enter your login and password the school has provided. If you need your account information, please call your school.

Select Food Service on the left side of the screen
Choose a Child
Select the Applications Tab
Click Add Application
Follow the instructions on the left-hand side of the screen. Instructions are listed on each page. Click the Next button at the top of each page to be sure you are completing all the required steps.

It can take up to 10 days to process an application so make arrangements in the meantime to provide money for meals or meals from home during that period of time. After your application has been processed, you will receive a letter stating the benefits for which you are eligible.

Application Tips
If you live in military privatized housing, don't include BAH allowance in your income
Fill out only one application per household
If your income changes at any time in the year you can resubmit a new application
Write children's names in Part 1 and Part 2 of the income application.
Be sure to include all family members on the application
Write a DSHS Client ID Number or Case Number in Section 1
Be sure to fill in your Social Security Number and Adult Signature.
For additional benefits, please complete Section 6.
Don’t forget to set up e-Funds and turn on negative balance notices to monitor your account balance.

SCHOOL YEAR 2026-27:

ALL medication administration authorizations and health plans are good for one school year only and must be renewed annually. If your child requires a health plan or needs to take medication during the school day for the school year 2026-2027 (this includes any prescription, over-the-counter medications, or inhalers used at school, during team sports practices, or after school activities), please download the appropriate form from the district website https://www.ohsd.net/5568_3. Forms may also be picked up in your school’s office. Have your healthcare provider complete the form before school starts in the fall. Parents/Guardians must sign all forms. Please bring the completed medication authorization, health plan, and the medication in the original over-the-counter or labeled prescription container when school begins in the fall. Medications cannot be accepted from students.

DIABETES, LIFE-THREATENING ALLERGIES, SEVERE ASTHMA, AND SEIZURES: Health plans and emergency medication for Diabetes, Life-Threatening Allergies, Severe Asthma & Seizures must be at school before the first day of the new school year, September 1, 2026. School office staff can begin accepting these items in August. School nursing staff will be available starting August 17, 2026. Students with life-threatening conditions will be excluded from school until the signed health plan and medication are at school. If your student has diabetes, your school nurse will contact you to set up a meeting prior to the first day of school to establish the required diabetes health plan. Current healthcare providers’ orders from the most recent diabetes checkup will be required. See less
