Beautiful weekend to walk the Lake and feel good about volunteering for a community effort.

📝✋ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS WEEKEND: Can you join us at the Lake Merritt Vending Pilot District 2 Table for the final weekend of the pilot program? We’ll distribute PPE and collect short surveys for vendors, neighbors, and park users to gather feedback about the pilot and how the City can improve these efforts moving forward.

To sign up for a two-hour shift, go to bit.ly/lakemerrittd2 or email Lia Azul Salaverry at [email protected].

In addition to these efforts, our office is working with the city administration to develop an evaluation plan which will include a separate survey to be distributed more broadly to residents and a wide range of groups to provide input and inform future plans.

🦃"Gerald the belligerent turkey has menaced his last victim. The aggressive fowl — notorious for his attacks on visitors at Oakland’s Morcom Rose Garden — was captured and released into the wild near Orinda after seven months on the loose."

We love animals, but this turkey had to go. Sincere gratitude to Oakland Animal Services for not giving up on catching this trouble-making turkey named Gerald. Thanks to the Rose Garden's volunteers and patrons. And please, if you visit the Rose Garden, don't feed the wild turkeys!

The Panel Discussion should be incredible - Arshay Cooper's story is amazing, and the director, Mary Mazzio, has managed to convey the feeling of rowing in such a wonderful way. As an active senior, I'd like to find out when ping pong is played at the club on Park Blvd. There doesn't seem to be a board showing when play is scheduled.
There are over 100 people at Mosswood park for a kickball tournament. We paid for access to the park, which includes access to a functional bathroom. This is all we have - the men's room toilet & urinal (women's room is locked). Women are peeing in the urinal because this toilet is a disgusting cesspool. There are splatters & smears of poo on the toilet, walls & floor. This is absolutely unacceptable. This bathroom is a public hazard. In addition to all the disgustingness in the toilet (which is inoperable), there are also syringes. The parks system needs to do better than this! There are porta-poddys inside a construction area right behind the fields. I tried to use them since they are only viable toilets at the park. I was turned away by a security guard. If the park can afford to rent porta-poddys for the construction crews, they should also be able to afford them - or a bathroom cleaner - for the paying park patrons. You need to do better than this, Oakland. 😡😡😡
