Wounded Warriors Family Support allows the families of those who have been injured or killed in combat to reconnect and renew their relationships. We provide families with dependent children the opportunity to spend a relaxing week at one of our get-away locations in Orlando.

🎖️ His name was Cpl. Jason L. Dunham. On April 14, 2004, in Husaybah, Iraq, he made the ultimate sacrifice — covering an enemy gr***de with his body to save the Marines beside him. He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. 🏅

🏡 Dunham House is his living legacy.

Named in his honor, Dunham House is a first-of-its-kind residential community in Omaha, Nebraska, built to provide long-term, dignity-centered care for combat-wounded veterans — particularly those living with traumatic brain injuries 🧠 — who need more than what the VA or typical support systems can offer.

⭐ The vision belongs to WWFS founder Col. John Folsom: a place where warriors who have seen combat can live together, support one another, and heal in ways that medicine alone cannot achieve. 🤝A place where the bonds of service become bonds of community.

🏠 In September 2025, Dunham House opened applications for residents. This is not a temporary program. It is a permanent home — a promise that America's most severely wounded heroes will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

🏡 Wounded Warriors Family Support's Family Retreats program gives veterans and their loved ones something rare and necessary: uninterrupted time together. ❤️ Time to breathe. 🌿 To laugh. 😄 To reconnect 🤝 — away from the daily demands of recovery, caregiving, and the invisible weight of combat trauma.

🎢🌴 Families have visited Universal Studios, Legoland, Shades of Green, and destinations across the country — all fully customized to accommodate each family's specific disabilities and needs. ♿💙

💙 Wounded Warriors Family Support's Mobility is Freedom program provides grants and customized, mobility-equipped vehicles to veterans who were wounded in combat and now face daily challenges with independence. Since launching in 2015, the program has restored something a discharge form can never measure: the ability to go where you want, when you want, on your own. 🛣️✨

🎉 In October 2025, WWFS and corporate partner Radian Group donated a 2025 Ford F-150 to retired Marine Cpl. John Mevey of Wichita, Kansas.🚙 This moment represents exactly what the program is about.

A vehicle isn't just transportation. It's:
🏥 A doctor's appointment you can make on your own schedule.
🏫 Picking up your kids from school.
💪 Feeling like yourself again.

🔧 Each customized vehicle is built to the specific needs of the recipient — including hand controls, wheelchair lifts, and adaptive technology that turns "I can't" into "I can." ♿🚘✨

They stepped up when duty called — not on a battlefield, but in a 🏥 hospital room, at a bedside, and in a life reshaped overnight by combat injury.

❤️‍🩹 Wounded Warriors Family Support's Caregiver Respite Program exists because these heroes deserve support too.

🤝 Our program provides nationwide assistance to caregivers and families of wounded veterans, including:
🍽️ Meal support
🧹 Housekeeping services
✈️ Medical travel grants
🏠 In-home care services

🎯 The goal is simple: ensure that family members thrust into the role of caregiver have the breathing room they need to stay healthy, whole, and present.

💙 Because caregiver burnout is real. The physical and emotional demands of caring for a veteran with a traumatic brain injury or spinal cord injury can be overwhelming — especially while balancing 💼 work, 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 family, and the responsibilities of everyday life.

🎖️ Wounded Warriors Family Support (WWFS) was founded in 2003 by Col. John Folsom, USMCR (Ret.), after a visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center changed everything.

🏥 He saw a young service member with a traumatic brain injury, comforted by his mother and sister 👩‍👦‍👧, and recognized a gap that the VA and the Department of Defense alone could not fill.

💙 That moment became a movement — one dedicated to supporting wounded veterans and the families who stand beside them every step of the way. 🇺🇸✨
