Congreso is proud to announce Julia Rivera has been recognized as a 20 Under 40 Latino Emerging Leader! 🥳

Julia serves as Congreso's Chief External Affairs Officer and was honored at this week's 2026 PA Latino Convention in Easton, PA.

“The 20 Under 40 honorees represent the brilliance, leadership, and unstoppable momentum of Latino Pennsylvania,” said Norman Bristol Colón, Founder and Chair of the Pennsylvania Latino Convention. “Their work is transforming communities, strengthening institutions, and redefining what leadership looks like in our Commonwealth.”

The Pennsylvania Latino Convention is the Commonwealth’s premier statewide gathering of Latino leaders, advocates, professionals, students, and community organizations. PALC advances policy, strengthens civic participation, promotes economic mobility, and uplifts the voices of more than 1.3 million Latinos across Pennsylvania.

"We are proud of Julia's leadership and meaningful impact she continues to make at Congreso and beyond," shared Congreso President & CEO Jannette Diaz.

Who was a champion in your life growing up? 🏆

For one of this year's Congreso Staff Champions, Luis Otero says his work in the nonprofit sector stemmed from his mother.

"My greatest mentor and role model has always been my mother, Mamita. She taught me that you don’t always have to do something extraordinary to help someone; sometimes, it simply means being willing to listen, understand, and lend a helping hand. Her example has deeply influenced the way I see my community and my commitment to serving others."

Gracias to City Councilmember Quetcy Lozada for recognizing the incredible literacy work of Congreso's Éxito Program in the 7th District and for introducing a resolution recognizing September as !

At Congreso, our Éxito Program supports children by combining high-dosage literacy tutoring, family engagement, and supportive services to help them and their families thrive. Last year alone, the program served 66 students, providing more than 28 hours of literacy tutoring per student while connecting families to critical resources such as housing, workforce development, and adult education.

Congreso President & CEO Jannette Diaz shared why literacy is so much more than an academic skill:

"When a child learns to read, that child gains the ability to understand the world, advocate for themselves, and imagine new possibilities for their future. This National Literacy Month, we must continue investing in programs that recognize the realities of our communities, celebrate multilingualism as an asset, and ensure every child, regardless of language, background, or zip code, has the opportunity to become a confident and successful reader."
