🏞️ Throwback Thursday: The Dedication of Elm Leaf Park

This week, we’re heading back 70 years to January 1956, when Baldwin Borough officially dedicated the new Elm Leaf Park.

The celebration on January 7 included a parade from McGibney School to the new park, followed by a dedication ceremony with Borough officials, community organizations, Scouts, fire companies, veterans groups, and other local organizations taking part.

📰 The South Hills Record covered the occasion in its January 13, 1956 edition under the headline, “Baldwin Boro Park Dedicated; Speakers, Paraders Thanked.”
Seven decades later, Elm Leaf Park remains part of the community that those residents helped build.

We’re happy to share that Baldwin Borough’s Sit & Fit Senior Fitness classes have been extended through the end of 2026!

🌙 Classes will now be held once a week in the evening from 6:15 to 7:15 PM, making it easier for more residents to take part.

Wednesday, September 30

Sit & Fit is a gentle, chair-based exercise class designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and overall well-being.

The schedule will be updated monthly, so keep an eye on the Borough website and social media for upcoming class dates.

🎪 Step right up! The Baldwin Borough Public Library is bringing its first-ever fundraising carnival to Wolfe Drive on Saturday, September 26!

🎟️ From 3:00 to 7:00 PM, enjoy an afternoon packed with games, crafts, prizes, food, a balloon artist, photo booth, sand art, spin art, and plenty more for the whole family.

🌭 Road Runner Hot Dogs, 🍧 Kona Ice, and 🍦 Sugar & Spice Ice Cream will also be there.

All proceeds from the carnival benefit the Baldwin Borough Public Library.

✨ Registration is appreciated, but not required. Families who pre-register will receive 4 bonus tokens and one free raffle entry.

🎒 Back to school starts this week! Please slow down, stay alert, and give yourself a little extra time as students and buses return to our roads.

Wishing everyone at BWSD a great start to the school year! 💜💛

Back to School BWSD!

The halls are filling back up, backpacks are packed, and another school year is almost here!

The Baldwin Borough Police Department is proud to welcome students, teachers, and staff back for the 2026–2027 school year. Our officers will be out and about in the community and around our schools as everyone settles into the new school year.

📚 First Day Reminders:
The first day of school for Baldwin-Whitehall School District students in grades 3–12 is Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

Our youngest learners will have a staggered start on August 26–27, with full attendance beginning Friday, August 28.

🚸 As we head back to school, please remember to:
• Slow down and use extra caution in school zones
• Watch for students crossing streets and walking to school
• Allow extra space and time around school buses
• Give yourself a little extra time during the morning and afternoon commute
• Stay alert and avoid distractions while driving

Most importantly, let’s all work together to keep our students safe as they head back to school!
