A new exhibit at Adams Library showcases the LGBTQ+ activists who shaped the modern movement for q***r rights and recognition. “LGBTQ+ Political Activism and Progress, 1970 to Present” features newspapers, books, and pamphlets that chronicle the struggle—and previously unimaginable victories—that activists won for the LGBTQ+ community. From Stonewall to ACT UP and beyond, the exhibit demonstrates the power of solidarity and memory as an antidote to political forces that would forget the LGBTQ+ movement’s history as a means to undo its progress.

The exhibit is now on display on the third floor near the main entrance of Adams Library. All materials are from Special Collections. The exhibit was curated by Special Collections Assistant, Anne Boylan, and student worker, Liz Riccio.

It’s Ground Hog Day!

Thanks for voting in our poll. The desire for an early Spring won by almost a 3:1 ratio!

However, the famous ground hog did see his shadow which suggests we are in for 6 more weeks of winter.

So, when you need a break from the winter weather stop by Adams Library. It’s a cozy, warm place to study that you can visit over and over and over again.

Welcome back! We’re kicking off the semester with a call for submissions to the Friends of the Adams Library First Year Research Prize for a $500 award and a winner’s reception. 🎉

Did you complete a project (e.g. paper, presentation, media, visual art, etc.) that demonstrates independent research and/or use of information sources in Fall 2025 during your first semester at RIC? If yes, then submit a copy of your project using the Library’s online submission form. It only takes a minute or two and you could be selected as the First Year Research Prize winner.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 6, 2026
