Today, we had the privilege of joining Living Innovations - Rhode Island for a Lunch and Learn that left us inspired. 💚

Shared Living Arrangements are a powerful model of care — pairing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with host families who open their hearts and their homes. The result? A real home. A real family. A real sense of belonging.

For people with I/DD, that kind of connection isn’t just meaningful — it’s transformative. And for the host families, the enrichment goes both ways.

At the John E. Fogarty Foundation, this is exactly the kind of innovative, person-centered care we believe in. We’re proud to support the organizations across Rhode Island working every day to make inclusion not just a value — but a lived reality.

Thank you, Living Innovations, for the invitation and for the important work you do. 🏡

What an incredible afternoon celebrating the amazing organizations making a difference across Rhode Island.

We were proud to honor the recipients of the Fogarty Foundation’s 2026 Grantmaking Program Awards during our annual Awards Luncheon at the Hope Club.

This year, we awarded more than $356,000 to 54 nonprofit organizations serving over 19,000 individuals and families — marking the largest grantmaking cycle in our Foundation’s history.

To our grantees: thank you for the compassion, dedication, and life-changing work you do every single day to improve and enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We are honored to partner with you. ✨

A powerful reminder from our friends at LIFE Inc. that every individual brings their own story, strengths, and beauty to the world. Just like no two rocks are the same, each person we serve in the I/DD community has a unique journey that deserves to be seen, supported, and celebrated. We’re grateful for organizations like LIFE that take the time to truly know and uplift each individual—because that’s where real impact begins. 💙

We’re proud to share exciting leadership news for the Fogarty Foundation! Mercedes McAndrew has been named the new Chair of the Board, continuing a remarkable legacy of leadership and commitment to our mission. Having served on the board since 2018, Mercedes steps into this role with a deep understanding of our work and a clear vision for the future—building on decades of impact led by her mother, Mary Fogarty McAndrew.

As she takes the helm, Mercedes is focused on expanding partnerships, driving new ideas, and creating even greater opportunities for Rhode Islanders with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

We’re honored and energized by her leadership—and excited for what’s ahead. 💚

We were honored to join our partners at the Ocean Community YMCA for a special breakfast at the beautiful Ocean House, celebrating the power of community partnerships in action.

The YMCA’s commitment to expanding adaptive programming continues to create more inclusive opportunities for individuals of all abilities—and we’re proud to stand alongside them in that work. Partnerships like this are at the heart of what we do at the Fogarty Foundation, and it’s inspiring to see the meaningful impact growing year after year.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support this important work and look forward to continuing our partnership as these programs expand and reach even more individuals and families.
