Community gardens like Peace & Plenty remind us that green space, access to fresh food production and strong neighborhood connections are all part of what makes a community thrive. Today we commit to permanently protecting this garden, making sure that this space that has been cared for and valued by this community remains a lasting resource for all of the neighbors that have invested so much in it.

As Providence continues to grow and evolve, we have to make sure we are preserving places that matter most to our neighbors. Today’s transfer is an investment in South Providence and in future generations.

ATTN Providence Residents:
Yard waste collection may be delayed beginning Monday, 8/31. Residents should place yard waste out as usual and leave it curbside if it is not collected. Crews will continue working throughout the week to complete any delayed pickups.

As summer comes to a close, Fall in Providence brings exciting celebrations of community and culture! The Guatemalan Festival happening on 9/13 and PVDFest happening on 9/18 + 9/19 highlight the music, food, dance, art, and shared traditions that bring Providence together. These events connect neighbors, families and location organizations together in a celebration of all things that make our city the very best. 🪩🎉

⏰Providence City Hall will be OPEN this weekend for extended hours for early voters for the Primary election on both Saturday + Sunday, 9 am - 1 pm.
🚗Free parking will be available right in front of City hall for anyone coming in to vote.

ICYMI: Today we released our FY2026 Housing Report - a breakdown of all the accomplishments we've made in housing for the last year. Providence is leading Rhode Island in housing developments with this years certificates of occupancy almost doubled compared to last year. Our progress is not happening by accident, we have made it easier to build housing, we have invested directly in affordable housing, put vacant and underused properties back to productive use and worked with state and development partners to move projects forward.

There is more work ahead but my administration is focused on delivering housing that our neighbors need and ensuring Providence is a City where people can afford to live and build a future.
