🇺🇸 Veterans – Don’t Fall for This Scam!
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is warning veterans and their spouses about a postcard promising extra monthly benefits through a supposed “Veterans Savings Program.” The program doesn’t exist—it’s a scam designed to steal personal and financial information.
Scammers may use your state of residence and mention legitimate VA programs, such as CHAMPVA or TRICARE For Life, to make the postcard appear legitimate. Don’t give out your Social Security number, bank account information or other sensitive information.
If you receive a postcard like this:
🔹 Don’t respond. Legitimate VA communications won’t pressure you to act immediately or provide sensitive information.
🔹 Contact the VA directly. Use a phone number you know is legitimate—not one listed on the postcard. The VA Benefits Hotline is 1-800-827-1000.
🔹 Spread the word. Sharing this information can help friends, family members and fellow veterans avoid becoming victims.
