A Veterans Night of Patriotic Music and Youth Tribute
Veterans of Jefferson County, Idaho gathered for an evening of fellowship and service, beginning at the home of Rob Close. After sharing a simple meal together, the group traveled to Rexburg to volunteer as ushers for the Hope of America Concert held at the John Hart Performance Center.
By 6:00 p.m., the auditorium was filled with excitement as nearly 500 fifth-grade students and their families arrived. The energy in the performance hall was vibrant and uplifting. Once the audience was seated, the veterans were invited to sit near the front, where they were honored guests for the evening. Among those in attendance were Scott Williams, Tom Faria, Brian Plass, Rob Close, and Commander James Stringham.
A defining moment of the evening came when Commander James Stringham delivered a stirring message reflecting on the meaning of America’s 250th birthday and the enduring legacy of those who have served. Following his remarks, a powerful tribute unfolded on the large screen—each branch of the U.S. military was honored with its official song, accompanied by inspiring visuals.
As the music played, something remarkable happened: the fifth-grade students sang along with confidence and pride. Veterans in the audience stood as their respective service songs were performed, creating a deeply moving moment of unity between generations.
The performance was a testament to the dedication of the students and their leaders. Special recognition goes to conductor Debbie Madsen, whose efforts helped instill in these young people a love of country and an appreciation for those who have served.
All who attended left with hearts uplifted—grateful for their country, proud of their fellow veterans, and inspired by the rising generation.
