Volunteers Needed for Downtown Parking Study

The City of Dover and the Strafford Regional Planning Commission are seeking volunteers to help with an upcoming downtown parking study. Volunteers will observe vehicles in the downtown area at various times of day. The information collected will help the City better understand how parking is being used and support future decisions affecting downtown businesses, employees, residents, and visitors.

There are three opportunities to help:

GRANTS AVAILABLE FOR STEWARDSHIP COSTS IN THE COASTAL WATERSHED

The Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announces Stewardship Grant Program Fall 2026

Stewardship Grant Program applications are available to assist with land stewardship costs for permanently protected conservation lands in the Coastal Watershed. Eligible Stewardship activities include habitat management, existing trail maintenance, property and project planning, and natural resource inventory projects.

Eligible applicants include the fee owner or conservation easement holder of eligible conservation properties, including qualified nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) conservation organizations, municipalities and units of government.
For 2026 applications, professional assistance to develop the 2026 application may be reimbursed as an eligible project cost.

Great Bay Resource Protection Partnership announces the Fall 2026 application is available. Grants assist with transaction costs for land protection projects in the Great Bay Watershed of New Hampshire. Qualified nonprofit tax-exempt 501(c)(3) conservation organizations, municipalities and units of government may apply.

SRPC and the City of Dover are conducting a parking study in downtown Dover in September. The parking study will take place over a course of 3 days (8am-9pm) including two weekend days and one week day. The parking study will look at the utilization of parking across the downtown, the efficacy of parking restrictions, meter usage, and other trends. This information will help the city make informed decisions on potential changes to parking regulations and to identify when and where additional parking structures should be built.

Volunteers are needed to assist with data collection. There are over 2,000 parking spaces in the study, so we will need many volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering to collect data, please sign up at forms.cloud.microsoft/r/a490q38npp

The University of New Hampshire Completes Installation of New Public EV Charging Stations

Four new public access ChargePoint level 2 charge ports have been installed in the Edgewood Road Visitor Lot between New Hampshire Hall and the Hamel Rec Center. (GPS: 5 Edgewood Road).

The new charge site continues a tradition of UNH and Town of Durham collaboration on EV charging installations and complements recent expansions completed by the Town in the Pettee Brook Lot.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD & PUBLIC HEARING

The Strafford Regional Planning Commission (SRPC) is holding a public comment period and public hearing on a draft update to the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (Metro Plan). The updated plan will comprise regional planning goals, performance data, and future projects for years 2026-2050. This update is in accordance with applicable state and federal laws.

A public comment period for this document will close Monday, September 14, 2026. A public hearing has been scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026 at 9:00am at a meeting of the SRPC Commissioners.

The U.S. Small Business Administration reminds eligible small businesses and private nonprofit organizations in New Hampshire impacted by drought occurring Oct. 28, 2025, to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans before the Sept. 8 deadline.

ABLE NH TrEq (Transportation Equity) Lunch & Learn Series -Community Transportation Needs Assessment: A Glimpse at What’s Really Happening in NH
