On October 20, SRPC's Lisa Wise and Megan Taylor-Fetter headed to Epping Dragway for an Advanced Driver Training course through Primex. During the 3½-hour behind the wheel program, led by a mix of state licensed driving Instructors and on track racing instructors, they practiced collision-avoidance maneuvers, emergency driving techniques, and defensive driving skills in a safe, closed-course setting.

The training was equal parts educational, confidence-building, and adrenaline-pumping, helping drivers react more effectively to real-world situations and become safer behind the wheel.

We're proud to share that both Lisa and Megan successfully earned their Collision Avoidance/Defensive Driving Certificates!

Happening tomorrow - Webinar on Floodplain Basics for Local Officials, hosted by the NH Office of Planning and Development!

This training will focus on floodplain management from the perspective of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

Ninety-four percent of NH communities are participants of NFIP, but what is your community doing to ensure compliance with the federal regulations? Is the local floodplain ordinance compliant with the minimum NFIP requirements? Are the regulations being enforced? What is a floodplain administrator and what are the responsibilities? Does the community follow the mapping schedule to know if the regulations reference the latest FEMA floodplain map?

Through this webinar, participants will come away with a better understanding of what the community roles and responsibilities are, how to adopt and enforce FEMA floodplain maps in the community regulations, and how to find and read a FEMA floodplain map to assist in the decision making process for allowing proposed development in a special flood hazard area.

The NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup (CAW) invites you to submit photos featuring high tide flooding, wildlife, beaches, rivers, or any other impacts you see, starting Monday, October 26 through Monday, November 2.

From November 3-10, vote for the most impactful photos! The top 10 photos will be displayed at local events and other public spaces. Visit CAW's website for more information about how to enter, where to take photos, and public voting.

Recharge the Adventure New Hampshire Webinar (RANH) and Q&A - Wednesday, 10/14 at 2pm

The RANH Grant Program provides funding to install publicly accessible Level 2 electric vehicle charging station at travel and tourism locations across the state.

$1 million dollars in funding is available. Up to 80% of eligible costs to install charging infrastructure are reimbursable. Eligible applicants include public entities (including cities, towns, and state agencies), private businesses, and nonprofits.

Applications accepted on a rolling monthly (on the 15th of each month) until all funds are obligated. Complete application received by the 15th will be scored and applicants notified within one month.

2027 Local Source Water Protection Grant Applications Due November 1st!

Grants are available from the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services to develop and implement programs to protect local sources of drinking water. Public water suppliers, municipalities, regional planning agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, conservation districts, and watershed associations are eligible to receive funding. Grant projects must protect surface or groundwater actively used or that will be used in the future by public water systems as sources of drinking water.

Share feedback on the draft New Hampshire Coastal Flood Risk Summary, Part II: Guidance for Using Best Available Science

First published in 2020, the Guidance is currently being updated as part of the 5-year update required by the New Hampshire State Legislature and guided by a Steering Committee of state agency representatives, regional planning commission staff, and other partners. The Guidance is intended to support users to access the latest information about sea level rise, groundwater rise, coastal storms, and extreme precipitation in different types of projects, including planning, regulatory, or site-specific efforts.

The public comment period runs through Friday, October 30, 2026.

Several webinars are planned to overview the draft Guidance.
