Meet Max ❤️
Calm. Friendly. Handsome. And just the right amount of scruffy.
Max is a sweet, mature gentleman with an easygoing personality and a face that’s pretty hard to resist.
He appears to be housetrained, walks nicely on leash, and already knows basic obedience commands—so this good boy has some important skills under his belt.
Max’s previous owner described him as a Goldendoodle, although his adorable wire-haired coat has us wondering if there might be a little something else mixed into his family tree.
Goldendoodle? Terrier mix? Professional heart-stealer?
Whatever his DNA might say, what matters most is that Max is a genuinely sweet guy looking for a home to call his own.
❤️ Come meet Max and see for yourself.

🐾 Take a shelter dog on an adventure. Make their day. Maybe change their life. 🐾

Not every shelter dog needs an adopter today. Sometimes, they just need someone willing to open the kennel door and say, “Let’s go!”

Our Doggie Day Out program gives community members the chance to take a shelter dog out for a few hours—go for a walk, visit a park, relax on a pet-friendly patio, or simply enjoy some time together away from the shelter.

For the dog, it’s a chance to:
🐶 Get exercise and fresh air
🐶 Experience new sights, sounds and smells
🐶 Enjoy positive social interaction
🐶 Take a break from the shelter environment
🐶 Show off the personality that can be hard to see in a kennel

And for you? You get the joy of hanging out with a dog without making a long-term commitment.

You might give a dog their favorite day of the week. You might help them become more visible to a potential adopter. And you might just make a new friend. ❤️

Come give a shelter dog a day out.
Their adventure starts with you.

❤️🐾 Sometimes, the ones who help us through the hardest times have four paws.

Maybe they stayed close when you were struggling, made you laugh on a day when you needed it most, or simply gave you a reason to keep moving forward.

Today, we want to celebrate those special pets.

📸 Post a photo in the comments of a pet who helped you through a difficult time. Tell us their name and, if you’re comfortable sharing, a little about what made them so special.
Whether they’re still beside you or remembered with love, we’d be honored to hear their story. ❤️

Let’s fill the comments with the animals who were there when we needed them most. 🐾

Our dogs run on Dunkin. Bruno was the first to arrive and he waited patiently (sort of) for his morning bacon. He ate a doughnut while waiting. The perks of being first. He was so excited when Howard came out with a fresh bag for him. Clark came next and he sat and took his bacon gently. Then came Bruce. I was not there for Bruce's treat, so his photo is from a different day, lest you think that Carol had a wardrobe change. Visit https://greeceny.gov/departments/animal-services/animal-services-pet-adoption/ to view adoptable pets and get pre-approved to adopt. Call 585-581-4025 to coordinate a meet-and-greet or stop down to 500 Maiden Lane.
