Rockport Common has begun taking shape. It's early yet, mostly fencing, permits, and the first earthwork, the unglamorous groundwork that has to happen before anything else can. It's not much to look at from the road, but it's the beginning of something we've been waiting on for a long time.

If you'd like to know what's happening at the park, we've launched a landing page at rockportcommon.org so you don't have to guess what's going on behind the fence. Check in as often as you like. We'll share significant updates as the work moves forward, season by season, until the park is ready for us all.

Due to a motor vehicle accident at Tolman Pond Market, which has ruptured fuel tanks adjacent to the store, Route 90 is closed between Mill Street and Route 17 until further notice. Rockport Maine Fire Department is on scene and maintaining a perimeter around the property until the fuel can be safely removed. Maine DEP is en route to the scene and will assist with the clean up.

Town of Rockport Maintains Tax Rate for 2026

ROCKPORT, Maine – The Town of Rockport has completed its annual tax commitment and is pleased to announce that the 2026 municipal property tax rate will remain unchanged from the previous year.

The 2026 tax rate has been set at $13.65 per $1,000 of assessed value, the same rate adopted in 2025. This marks no increase in the tax rate for the second consecutive year, reflecting the Town's continued commitment to responsible financial management and long-term fiscal stability. Voters approved the 2027 municipal budget in June which decreased from the prior year- down $78,693, or 0.94%. The Town’s total property valuation increase can be attributed to housing construction and an increase in Central Maine Power’s facilities.

Taxes were committed on August 12, 2026, and property tax bills are expected to be mailed during the week of August 17. The first payment installment will be due on October 15, 2026, with the second installment due on April 15, 2027.

"Maintaining the same tax rate as last year is positive news for Rockport taxpayers," said Town Manager Jonathan Duke. "Through careful budgeting and financial planning by our staff, Select Board and Budget Committee, the Town has been able to continue providing essential services while avoiding an increase in the tax rate. "
