In partnership with First Step Communities, based on predictions from the National Weather Service, DHSH will activate its hot weather surge capacity at the North A Shelter located at 1400 North A street beginning Wednesday, July 29 through Thursday Aug. 6 from 1 – 8 p.m. daily.
Participants can expect a cool, safe space to get respite from the heat, charge their devices, use the restroom and receive a meal. Light case management is also available.
Interested parties should call 2-1-1 before traveling to the respite center to check the capacity.
County staff will continue to track the weather, in partnership with the National Weather Service to determine if any extensions are needed to this activation. Updates will be posted here if any changes are made.

Cutting the ribbon for Franklin Boulevard Complete Streets was a culmination of 10 years of hard work. Franklin Boulevard now has one of the safest bike lanes in all of Sacramento, better pedestrian access, slower traffic, and a streetscape that will help make it the destination that it always should have been.

Franklin is the Hispanic corridor for Sacramento County, between this project and the amazing artwork going in all over the district, it will draw people from all over to finally see and embrace that.

Thank you to everyone that made this possible, particularly the City of Sacramento and the Franklin Boulevard Business District.

The 13th annual Super Parent Day celebration was successful once again! Families enjoyed receiving give aways and resources for the upcoming school year.

I also presented the Community Inspiration Award to Gene Kato in recognition of his exceptional service, compassion, and dedication to Sacramento County's seniors.

Thank you, Stephens Foundation, for this wonderful community event!

Took a tour of the Saint John's Female Community Reentry Program.

Saint John's Female Community Reentry Program (FCRP) provides currently incarcerated women with the opportunity to serve the remainder of their sentence in a structured, supportive environment—giving them the tools they need to successfully transition back into the community.
