A growing number of Americans are now seeking care in emergency rooms because they could no longer afford to pay their health insurance premiums.

This is a predictable consequence of Republicans letting the enhanced Affordable Care Act tax credits expire.

We must restore these tax credits and ensure every American has access to affordable, quality healthcare.

More people who lost coverage after congressional Republicans ended enhanced federal subsidies are now seeking care in emergency rooms and unable to pay bills.

Today marks the 61st anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid.

As a doctor, I’ve seen firsthand how these programs help millions of hardworking families, children, seniors, and people with disabilities get the care they need.

As Republican cuts in the Big Ugly Law take effect, more than 37,000 people in our district risk being kicked off of their healthcare. That means patients skipping checkups, going without medications, and watching manageable conditions turn into health emergencies. This is unacceptable.

When President Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law, he made a promise that older Americans and people living in poverty would not be denied care or driven into bankruptcy because they got sick. We cannot walk away from that promise.

We must reverse these cuts and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid for generations to come.

Great catching up with Sacramento Metro Fire Chief Adam House at my office’s second annual HERO Chili Cookoff at the California State Fair!

This event brings first responders together for some friendly competition while raising awareness about the mental health challenges they face. It also highlights my bipartisan Helping Emergency Responders Overcome (HERO) Act, which would expand mental health training and support for firefighters and other first responders.

I am grateful for Chief House’s service and the dedication of all our first responders.

This move to end Medicare Part D subsidies will raise premiums and prescription drug costs for many of our seniors.
 
At a time when seniors on fixed incomes are already struggling to keep up with high prices, this is exactly the opposite of what we should be doing.
 
No American should ever have to choose between filling a prescription and paying for groceries, rent, or utilities.

Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Law has already kicked more than 300,000 Californians off food assistance, including over 150,000 children.

These cuts are causing real harm in our community and across the nation. Kids are going to school hungry, parents are skipping meals so their children can eat, and families are struggling to put food on the table.

No child in America should ever go hungry. I will continue fighting to reverse these cruel cuts.

Nationwide, an estimated 4 million people have been kicked off SNAP since the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, the report finds.

As we celebrate our independence, let's also reflect on the values that have guided our nation for 250 years: freedom, opportunity, service, and the shared responsibility we have to build a more perfect union for our children and grandchildren.
