South Salisbury Fire Department Our history is rich in tradition. Organized in February 1951; we continue to build on this heritage to meet the future needs of our citizens and community.

The men and women serving before us have made possible our ability to provide services at the highest level to continually meet the challenges of our area. Currently, we serve a population of over 3,000 residents encompassing an 11 square mile area within the Litaker Township of Rowan County. In addition to general volunteer membership and paid part-time employment, we also offer a junior firefighter program for individuals between 14-18 years of age.

As we celebrate America’s birthday this year, we want everyone to be safe! With the very dry conditions and general safety of sparklers, we encourage everyone to use glow sticks! It is a fun and safe way to celebrate!
