Come see what the Salisbury Youth Council (SYC) is all about on Tuesday, Aug. 25, from 5 to 6 p.m. at 434 Calhoun Street in Salisbury.

Students, parents, and community members are invited to our Salisbury Youth Council Open House. Meet current members, learn about the council, hear about opportunities to get involved, and see how local youth are making a difference in Salisbury. SYC is open to 9th through 12th graders who live within Rowan County limits.

⚠️ ATTENTION ⚠️

UPDATE: Thanks to the hard work of the entire team Fred M. Evans Pool will reopen tomorrow, Sunday August 16 at noon.

Reminder Fred M. Evans Pool is operating on limited hours for the end of the season. Thursday-Sunday from noon-6pm on the block schedule. The last day of the pool season is September 7, 2026.

Update from Thursday August 13: We have found the source of the maintenance issue. The pool will remain closed as we work to fix the mechanical issues in the coming days.

We hope to reopen Fred M. Evans Pool next Thursday, August 20 at noon. Reopening will be contingent on successful repairs and confirmed water quality standards. Thank you for your continued patience.

Salisbury Mayor Tamara Sheffield invites local boys and girls to a FREE day of baseball / softball instructions conducted by Catawba College's Baseball and Softball Teams.

Free transportation is available leaving from Hall Gym (1400B W. Bank St.) if needed. Bus will leave Hall Gym at 8:30 a.m. You must reserve a spot on the bus! To reserve a seat call (704) 638-5286.

This program is to raise awareness and empower families throughout Rowan County with equitable access to resources and tools to prepare their children for Kindergarten. This fun and engaging class is designed to help young children build the social , emotional, and academic skills needed for a confident start.
