The Utah Highway Patrol's mission is to provide professional police and traffic services, and to protect the constitutional rights of all people in Utah. This is accomplished by focusing on ten areas of emphasis:

Public Service

vers
Removing impaired drivers from Utah’s highways is the Utah Highway Patrol’s number one priority. Every effort will be made to educate the public regarding the hazards associated with driving while impaired. Occupant Restraint Usage
The Utah Highway Patrol, in cooperation with community groups and other public safety agencies, will increase their educational and enforcement efforts to meet or exceed the National goal of 85 percent seatbelt and child seat usage by the year 2000 and 90 percent by 2005. Safety Education
The Utah Highway Patrol will make safety education a higher organizational priority and will devote more resources to this program. Local Law Enforcement Support
It is our desire to become a more valuable resource to agencies within our state. Members of the Utah Highway Patrol will actively look for opportunities to support and assist allied public safety agencies. Criminal Interdiction
Utah Highway Patrol troopers will continue to aggressively identify and apprehend criminal law violators and will honor and protect people’s constitutional rights during that process. Community Policing
The challenges facing our state now and in the future will be most effectively addressed by establishing a partnership with the community. All members of the Utah Highway Patrol will become actively involved with the community to solve mutual problems and to respond to the challenges that face us. Commercial Vehicle Safety
The Utah Highway Patrol will work cooperatively with the commercial vehicle industry and citizen groups in an effort to enhance highway safety through the implementation of innovative educational and enforcement programs. Human Resource Development
People are the Utah Highway Patrol’s most valuable resource. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on providing enhanced training, encouraging the pursuit of higher education, and developing leaders for the future. Accident Investigation & Reconstruction
The Utah Highway Patrol will continue to provide troopers with the best training available so they are capable of conducting thorough and professional motor vehicle crash investigations and reconstructions. Every effort will be made to acquire and implement new technologies that aid in the collection and documentation of evidence and the completion of professional investigations.

From the East Coast to the Hive!

We recently had the honor of hosting our ultimate Ride with the Hive fan, Max, all the way from the East Coast at UHP HQ! Max has a
heart of gold and an unmatched passion for our Ride with the Hive series, so we knew we had to give him the ultimate experience.

If you worked around HQ, you’d probably already know Max, he regularly calls in to check on updates and find out exactly when the next
episode is dropping! But his love for UHP actually had a bit of a rocky start. Years ago, Max’s first interaction with us was getting pulled over for speeding. Instead of letting that ruin his view of law enforcement, Max has used Ride with the Hive to connect with our mission, and learned how to be a much safer driver because of it.

Yesterday, Max got to meet the Troopers featured in several episodes. With several of these Troopers taking time while off-duty just to hang out and swap stories with him.

To top off an unforgettable visit, Max got an exclusive sneak peek of our upcoming episode, followed by a real-deal ride-along with Trooper Miles, that wrapped up with a VIP stop at the State Capitol.

Before he left, Max wanted to share an important message with our community, and we think he said it best:

"Drive sober and don't get pulled over, Utah, because we want you to stay alive and Ride with the Hive!"

An important reminder of safe driving.

Our troopers recently put community members to the test at the Iron County First Responder Open House, using a pedal cart course and "drunk goggles" to demonstrate how drastically impairment affects reaction time and coordination.

Thanks to everyone who stopped to say hello.
