Have you explored Magna Regional Park? 🌳 Spanning 62 acres, this local favorite has something for everyone: A playground, splash pad, walking paths, and large multipurpose fields perfect for sports, picnics, or just soaking up the sunshine.

📢 Splash pad reminder: Starting Monday, September 7, summer hours come to an end. After Labor Day, our splash pads will run Friday–Sunday, 12–8 pm, through September 20 (weather and temperatures permitting). Get your last splashes in before the season wraps up! 💦

Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation is hiring Lifeguards and Group Swim Instructors at the South Jordan Fitness and Aquatics Center!

We're looking for dependable, safety-minded team members to help keep our pools running smoothly and to help our community learn to swim.

Lifeguards — Must be 15+, pass a swim skills test (tread water 1 minute, swim 100 yards continuously, retrieve a 10-lb brick from 9 feet deep). Early morning, mid-day, afternoon, and Sunday shifts available. Starting pay $14.00–$15.55/hr.

Group Swim Instructors — Must be 16+, pass a swim screening test, and enjoy working with kids ages 3–17. Starting pay $16/hr.

Mill Creek will be undergoing treatment to save our native trout! Take a virtual dip into the creek to see the native Bonneville cutthroat trout being saved through this treatment 🤿

Someone illegally dumped brook trout into Mill Creek, undoing years of work to restore native. So DWR is teaming up with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish & Wildlife, and Trout Unlimited to fix it.

What you need to know 👇
- Treatment date: Sept. 1 (weather permitting), lasting about 2 days

- Area affected: Mill Creek from Church Fork to the I-215 bridge — only the creek itself is closed, trails stay open

- The treatment being used is called rotenone, a natural, plant-derived treatment — safe for people & pets and other wildlife, it only affects fish

- Water may look purple downstream — that’s a neutralizing agent keeping fish safe below the canyon

- Cutthroat trout will be caught & held safely, then released once the water’s safe

Please stay out of the treatment area so crews can work safely

This is about protecting native trout and keeping them off the Endangered Species list.

Remember: illegally introducing fish in Utah is a Class A misdemeanor (up to 1 year in jail + a $2,500 fine).

We’ve got exciting My County Rec Pass activities for our youth to take advantage of this month!

Grab your pass and join us. Try something new like Swim Team at Northwest Recreation Center, cook up a treat at Copperview, and explore many more free activities happening across the County.

Some activities require registration, so claim your spot and stay active with our rec centers this month.

My County Rec Pass is available at no cost for Salt Lake County youth. Learn more and see all the participating centers youth gain access to at slco.to/pass.
