🚧 Road Work Update 🚧

Crews are mowing along several county roads this week and have also started grader patching, which helps smooth and repair worn sections of roadway.

The Sonoma crew is continuing roadside mowing along Cavedale Road to support a larger shaded fuel break project planned for later this summer.

Additional work this week includes guardrail repairs, culvert replacements in Bloomfield, sign repairs, roadway striping, and repairs to a wood retaining wall on Old Redwood Highway in Penngrove.

The photos in this post highlight work completed last week, including deck replacement on the Cazadero Highway viaduct and culvert repairs on Old Lakeville Highway. These projects help maintain critical infrastructure and improve roadway drainage and safety.

Thank you to our crews for their continued work and to the public for your patience as we keep Sonoma County roads safe and well maintained.

🚸 Community Help in Action

A Sonoma County resident recently alerted us to a downed pedestrian crossing sign on River Road. Even with only the road name provided, our Road Maintenance crew was able to locate the exact sign using tracked sign location data and get it reinstalled earlier this week.

Pedestrian crossing signs are an important part of roadway safety, and this is a great example of how community reports help us respond quickly.

Thank you to the resident who brought this to our attention — and to our Road Maintenance team for getting it back in place.

🚧 Wohler Bridge Update
Work continues to move forward at Wohler Bridge, with crews now focused on the next major phase of repairs.

This week, crews continued strengthening key structural elements of the bridge and cutting the concrete bridge deck into sections for removal. Over the coming weeks, those sections will be lifted out and recycled, allowing crews to access and repair the underlying structure.

Environmental monitoring remains ongoing, and we're pleased to report that several House Finch nests have successfully produced fledglings while work continues nearby under the supervision of a project biologist.

We’re also hoping to share photos of the bridge deck removal process soon. It’s a significant milestone in the project and offers a unique look at the work taking place beneath the bridge surface.

As a reminder, Wohler Bridge remains closed to all traffic through October 30 while these critical repairs are completed.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as this project moves forward.

🚧 2026 Seasonal Crossing Update 🚧
Odd Fellows, Vacation Beach & Asti Crossings

The Odd Fellows Road seasonal crossing reopened last week following installation work by Sonoma Public Infrastructure crews.

The Bridge crew will next install bridge decks at the Vacation Beach and Asti summer crossings ahead of the seasonal crossing installations scheduled to begin after June 15.

The photos in this post show crews installing the Odd Fellows Road crossing deck as part of the seasonal reopening process.

As always, schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. Thank you for your patience as crews work to safely reopen these important seasonal crossings.

🚧 Road Work Update 🚧

With the holiday, this is a shorter work week, but crews are continuing roadside mowing, pothole patching, and routine maintenance across Sonoma County.

This week’s work includes:
• Roadside mowing along River Rd, Roblar Rd, Occidental Rd, and Cavedale Rd
• Vegetation removal with CAL FIRE along Moscow Rd
• Paving work on the recently repaired Cazadero Highway viaduct
• Culvert repairs on Old Lakeville Highway
• Sign repairs and roadway striping in multiple areas across the county
• Preparation work for the seasonal Asti and Vacation Beach crossings ahead of their June reopening

Work on Cavedale Road is also helping support a larger shaded fuel break project planned for later this summer.

The photos in this post show roadside ditch cleaning work completed last week on Germone Road to help improve drainage and keep water flowing away from the roadway.

Thank you to our road crews for their continued hard work keeping roads safe and passable. Please slow down and stay alert near work zones.

Congratulations to Trish on her retirement following an incredible career in public service and leadership in solid waste, disaster response, transportation, and operations. Since joining the County in 2007 and later becoming Deputy Director of Transportation, Operations & Fleet in 2018, Trish played a critical role in advancing major Integrated Waste initiatives, including the proposed compost facility and Central Landfill expansion efforts.

Trish also provided essential leadership during the 2017 and 2019 fires and flood disasters, helping lead debris removal, cleanup, and recovery operations that supported Sonoma County communities during some of their most challenging times. Her work coordinating cleanup and recovery efforts demonstrated a deep commitment to public service and environmental stewardship.

In addition to her solid waste and emergency response leadership, Trish helped support the expansion of Sonoma County Transit, growth of the County’s EV fleet, and rebuilding of Fleet Operations. Her experience, dedication, and steady leadership have made a lasting impact across Sonoma County, and we wish her all the best in this next chapter.
