🪿 Meet Liberty Park's Newest VIPs (Very Important Poults)! 🪿

A Canadian Goose family has recently taken up residence at Liberty Park, and let's just say... they're taking their neighborhood watch duties very seriously.

Canada geese are incredibly dedicated parents and will do everything they can to protect their young. If you spot this feathered family during your visit, please enjoy watching them from a safe distance and give them plenty of space.

A friendly reminder that geese are protected by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Please do not chase, taunt, throw objects at, feed, or otherwise disturb them. Not only is it stressful for the animals, but protective parents can become defensive when they feel their goslings are threatened. Let's all do our part to help our newest VIPs feel welcome while keeping both wildlife and park visitors safe.

🏆Congratulations to Justin Smith, our May Bobblehead of Brilliance winner! 🐿️

Around here, Justin is simply known as “The Pool Guy.” 💧 If it involves water, there’s a good chance Justin is behind the scenes making it happen. Chemicals, filters, chlorination systems, splash pads, unexpected repairs, pool maintenance calls… you name it, Justin handles it.

From keeping our pools running safely to jumping into fixes nobody else even notices until something goes wrong, Justin plays a huge role in keeping our pool facilities operating smoothly for the community each and every day.

Thank you, Justin, for all the hard work you put in behind the scenes to keep the water flowing and our community splashing safely all summer long! 🌊

11:25am: Liberty Pool will be delayed opening due to weather. We will reevaluate to be open at 3pm.

Huge shoutout to local gamer and streamer Brittany Parker! 🎮

During the months of March and April, Brittany donated her streaming earnings to help support the new Sedalia Parks and Recreation Esports Arena… raising an incredible $800! That donation will cover ALL of the PC game copies we need for the arena. 🤯

This is such a cool example of the gaming community showing up in a big way. Brittany took something she loves, turned it into support for local esports, and helped make sure more players will have the chance to game, compete, build friendships, and be part of something awesome.

Community doesn’t just happen on the field or court anymore… sometimes it’s built one stream, one match, and one headset at a time!🕹️

Thank you, Brittany, for investing in the future of esports in Sedalia!

Susan serves as our Community Outreach and Membership coordinator at the Heckart Community Center, and chances are… you already know her friendly face! 😊

Susan wears many hats throughout our community and is always finding ways to give back. From helping secure donations for programs, building connections with our members, networking with community partners, and making everyone feel welcome, Susan truly helps make the HCC feel like home.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the Heckart Community Center, Susan is always ready to proudly show you around and share everything the HCC has to offer! Thank you, Susan, for your positivity, passion, and dedication to our community. We appreciate all that you do! 💙
