I ran across this article and thought I would share some excerpts as there was a lot of talk this year about the yard sales in past years. It's lengthy but I'm sure you will enjoy the wonderful memories!!

Seville will be crowded from dawn to dusk Friday and Saturday. Residents will participate in the annual ritual called "The World's Biggest Yard Sale."

Special events coincide with the community-wide sale. On both days, the Seville-Guilford emergency medical service will serve "rescue muffins" for breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. The "life-saving" starter will consist of an English muffin with ham, cheese and egg, along with orange juice and coffee. At lunch time, the menu will consist of hamburgers, hot dogs, sloppy Joes and drinks. The food tent will be located on the lawn of the downtown Seville Branch of Medina County District Library.

Kiwanis Club will set up a tent near the Sunoco station on North Center Street to serve french fries and snow cones both days. An auction of various items will be held there at 3pm Saturday.

Seville Chamber of Commerce will serve barbecued chicken Saturday at Maria Stanhope Park. Seville Baseball Association will offer barbecued pork in the same park between Ohio 3 and West Main Street. Serving will start at 11am Friday and continue until closing.

Opening and closing can mean almost any time. Most people aim to have things out by 8am and quit before 8pm. One resident recalled, "I was putting stuff on the porch about 6am one morning and there was somebody ready to buy!"

The event originated 15 years ago as a yard sale so residents could get rid of odds and ends. Where did it get the P.T. Barnum title? "I made it up," says Lee Cavin, ex-editor of the weekly Seville Chronicle.

I lunched on a fresh fruit salad at the Seville Inn. The restaurant had knickknacks on display and fresh flowers on the tables. Later, I paused for pie at the Heritage Way, once called Tischer's restaurant. Antiques abound there.

Nearby, the Hartman Pharmacy serves sundaes and sodas. Later in the day, I stopped at Wayside Market at Ohio 3 and Greenwich Road for a hoagie, extra cheese and Trail bologna.

To our wonderful facebook friends and family,

Please join my family in praying for our neighbors in Rittman. ❤️🙏

Heavenly Father,
Our hearts are heavy as we lift up the entire Rittman community after last night’s unimaginable tragedy.
We pray for every victim and every family whose lives have been forever changed. Wrap them in Your loving arms, bring comfort where there is unbearable grief, strength where there is exhaustion, and peace where there is fear and uncertainty.
We also pray for the first responders, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, hospital staff, and everyone who rushed toward danger to help others. Be with them as they carry the emotional weight of what they witnessed. Give them courage, healing, and the reassurance that they are not alone.
Lord, surround this community with compassion, unity, and hope. Help neighbors support one another, friends comfort friends, and strangers become sources of kindness in the days ahead.
May Your light shine brightly in the midst of this darkness, and may every person affected feel Your presence, Your love, and Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Amen. ❤️

Please keep everyone affected by the tragedy in Rittman in your thoughts and prayers. 🙏

Our thoughts are with everyone impacted. I hope the families, first responders, and the entire Rittman community find comfort and support in the difficult days ahead.

Happy 250th birthday to the USA! Take time to reflect on the many ways God has blessed our nation.....

Quoted from "A Nation's Strength" by William Ralph Emerson

Not gold but only men can make
A people great and strong;
Men who for truth and honor's sake
Stand fast and suffer long.

Brave men who work while others sleep,
Who dare while others fly...
They build a nation's pillars deep
And lift them to the sky.

Local author Beverly Sprowl Teibel shared the 2026 publishing of her book "Delilah Jane - Her Story" in the comments on a recent Facebook post. I am delighted to recommend her book as her great-grandmother, Delilah Jane McCabe once worked at the Seville Inn, then "The Morton Inn" in the late 1800's. Ms. Teibel states "the book is part fact, part fiction, and part family lore." I enjoyed reading her book as it highlights a quiet strength and courage of character that resonates with so many of our ancestral stories. It's a reminder of all they sacrificed to make life better for the generations that came after them. The story of daily life in our village is a welcome reflection of times past. Her book is available on Amazon if you are interested in purchasing a copy for yourself.
