🚧 West Main Canal Headworks Reconstruction Update

The Yuma County Water Users Association has begun a major reconstruction project of the West Main Canal headworks. The project has been underway for several months and will continue through the end of this year.

The project includes removing a condemned portion of the existing structure due to age and constructing a new structure just upstream of the existing West Main Canal gates. Once complete, the historic structure will be deactivated.

The new headworks will be built to current building codes and will include advanced automation, water measurement and sensing equipment, real-time operational video feeds, and other technology to provide safe, reliable, and accurate water delivery to our water users for generations to come.

As part of construction, crews will be driving sheet piling deep into the ground and performing excavation. These activities will create noise and vibration during certain daytime operations. We understand this may be an inconvenience to nearby residents and appreciate your patience and understanding. These activities are necessary to safely complete this critical project.

Please continue to follow this page for project updates, photos, time-lapse videos, and progress information. We want our community and shareholders to remain informed about the project and any potential impacts.

We also sincerely appreciate your cooperation with the multi-use path closure in the area. These closures are in place to help keep our community, contractors, and employees safe.

IT’S TIME! Dove Season officially kicks off tomorrow!

Here in Yuma, we know dove season is a BIG deal, and we’re excited to see hunters out enjoying the season.

We just have a few friendly reminders for all our hunters:

* Please obey all posted signs — including No Trespassing and Private Property signs.
* Know where you are hunting and make sure you have the proper licenses, stamps, and landowner permissions.
* Please clean up all brass and trash. If you pack it in, please pack it out! * Be respectful of the land, surrounding properties, and other people enjoying our community.

**ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE**

Please be advised County 11th Street and Avenue G is currently closed through mid September.

The closure is necessary to construct the Avenue G curve realignment as part of a transportation project being administered by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

A detour will be in place, routing traffic on County 14th Street and onto Somerton Avenue.

To help limit future closures on Avenue G, the Yuma County Water Users’ Association, will take advantage of the closure to repair a leaking irrigation pipeline located on County 13¾ Street.

Please use caution when traveling through the area and follow all posted traffic-control signs. Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed.

MULTI-USE PATH CLOSURE REMINDER 🚧

Yuma County Water Users’ Association would like to remind our community that the multi-use path from Ave A to Magnolia is CLOSED to all pedestrians.

We have noticed that barricades and barricade fencing have been knocked down or moved. All signage, barricades, and fencing have been placed for your safety and the safety of our workers.

We ask that everyone please obey all posted signage and do not move, go around, or cross the barricades. Work in this area is ongoing and will continue through December.

Please stay clear of the work area and help us keep our community and workers safe.

Yuma County Water Users’ Association would like to thank Yuma County Government for taking action in the ongoing effort to combat illegal dumping. Recognizing the need for a convenient disposal option, Yuma County has opened a South County Transfer Station to better serve our community.

🗓 Hours of Operation:
Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
7:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

✔ Residential customers are allowed one load per day.
✖ No commercial dumping.
✖ No hazardous waste accepted.

🚧Road Closure Notice – 28th Street at 37th Drive 🚧

Please be advised that 28th Street is closed at 37th Drive while Yuma County Water User's Association crews perform pipeline work in the area.

Construction is expected to be completed early next week. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these necessary improvements.

Please use alternate routes, obey all posted traffic control signs, and use extra caution when traveling near the work zone for the safety of both the public and our crews.

Multi-Use Path Closure Notice 🚧

Please be advised that closures are already in place for the Multi-Use Path along the West Main Canal from Avenue A to Magnolia.
Yuma County Water Users' Association crews will be on site installing a new headgate at the West Main Canal. For your safety, please stay clear of the work area, obey all posted signs, and do not move or go around barricades. They are in place to protect both the public and our crews.
The path closure is expected to remain in effect through the month of December.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these important improvements. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe.

Holiday Office Closure Notice 🇺🇸

The Yuma County Water Users' Association offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. Our offices will reopen on Monday, July 6.

Our Water Department will remain available for water orders and emergencies throughout the holiday weekend.

☀️ Summer is here, and temperatures are rising!

The Yuma County Water Users' Association would like to remind everyone that canals and drainage ditches are not safe places to swim. Not only is it extremely dangerous, but it is also against the law.

Water levels and flows can change rapidly and without warning. Strong currents, steep canal banks, hidden debris, and underwater hazards can quickly turn a fun afternoon into a tragedy. You never know what may be beneath the surface.

Remember, this water plays a vital role in irrigating our agricultural fields and supporting the farms that help feed our communities.

Yuma County offers plenty of safe places to cool off this summer, including swimming facilities with trained lifeguards on duty.

Please stay out of the canals and ditches, look out for one another, and help keep our community safe.

Please be advised that the multi use path along Avenue A, adjacent to the East Main Canal, between 1st Street and 5th Street, is CLOSED to all pedestrian traffic now through Saturday.

YCWUA along with Power crews are working in the area with LIVE electrical equipment, creating a potentially dangerous situation for anyone entering the work zone.

For your safety, please stay clear of the area and obey all posted signs, barricades, and closures.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as our crews complete this important work safely.
