Firefighters were able to gain 100% containment of the up American Fork Canyon. The fire ended at approximately 2 acres. There may still be some visible smoke in the area, as one crew remains on scene to work any remaining hotspots in the interior.
Tibble Fork Reservoir and the parking lot are now open. Timpooneke Campground and trailhead remain closed until mid-day tomorrow, Sunday, July 12th. The Timpooneke Road (Forest Service Road #056) is closed to through traffic, at the Alpine Loop Junction and will remain closed until Sunday night, July 12th. This is due to the equipment and firefighters still working in the area, not for any fire threat. After mid-day tomorrow, July 12th individuals with Timpooenke campground reservations will be allowed into their sites.
Traffic is flowing freely up American Fork Canyon, Alpine Loop, and the road to Tibble Fork and Silver Lake flats. There is no impact to Timpanogos Cave or the Timp trail.
