Classified Appreciation Week: We are recognizing the invaluable contributions of our classified staff at Walterville, including office staff, library, classroom EAs, reading group EAs, custodians, cook, bus drivers, and recess supervision, who play a critical role in the daily operations of our school. Kindergarten snack time was a real showstopper today! Students got a puppet show!

Fifth-grade students participated in a conversation about spreading kindness within the school and wanted to monitor and recognize each occurrence of kindness. They added a chain to our kindness chain, and here is the outcome! ❤️

Jamie Smith was honored with the Horace Mann Award by Cassy Moorhead, a peer recognition award acknowledging staff members who go above and beyond at Walterville. As the 3rd-grade facilitating teacher, Jamie leads reading groups for grades K-3 and consistently shows a commitment to meeting the unique needs of our students. Gratitude to Mrs. Jamie! 🍎

Today is Taco Tuesday and National Pizza Day is in February, what better way to commemorate than a theatrical performance in Libary from Ms. Tiffany and Ms. Angie performing Taco and Pizza! This is a popular series of books but it comes to life with these two performers! 🌮 🍕❤️

We have recently had two very special guests meet Tia and Bailey. They are furry friends who come to read and snuggle with some of the students, and are trained and affiliated with the FETCH program. We thank Mrs. Woodward for bringing this program to Walterville! 🐶 ❤️

The 5th-grade boys wrapped up their basketball season with great team spirit. Walter the Wildcat visited to cheer them on and see if they could keep up with his wild court skills. Nice job this season, Wildcats! 🏀

Today Sluggo and the Eugene Emeralds stepped up to the plate to challenge our students to a reading contest. Our students will get the lowdown on how to hit a home run and how they could earn baseball game tickets through reading!

BUSES AND SCHOOLS TWO HOUR DELAY: Due to the potential for additional early-morning ice on roads and sidewalks, all SPS schools and buses are operating on a two hour delay for Friday, February 14. The bus will arrive two hours later than normal and schools will open two hours later than normal.
