Help us congratulate our 2025–2026 Work-Based Learning Student of the Year, Amelia Holbrook! 🎉

Amelia has shown exceptional dedication, leadership, and professionalism through her work at Sanders Drugs while balancing academics, dual enrollment coursework, and extracurricular involvement at Stephens County High School. Her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact both in the classroom and in the workplace.

As this year’s recipient, Amelia was awarded a $1,500 scholarship from the Stephens County Development Authority to support her future educational and career goals. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of North Georgia to pursue a degree in Marketing.

Congratulations, Amelia! We are proud of all you have accomplished and look forward to seeing your continued success!

As we wrap up Small Business Week, we’re proud to highlight Universal Maintenance Inc, a company that has established itself as a leader in long term general plant maintenance services since 2005. Along with maintenance, they provide a wide range of fabrication and installation capabilities, supporting the evolving needs of industrial operations.

In 2021, Universal Maintenance was acquired by the Dupps Company, further strengthening its presence in the industry. The company continues to operate under the leadership of previous owner and current operator Jessica Colbert, whose direction has helped build a strong reputation and a successful niche in the field.

SCDA had a great time touring the Georgia Ports Authority Gainesville Inland Port today with several of our existing industries who import and export here in Stephens County.

We were glad to have Sark Wire, ASI Southeast, Patterson Pump Company, American Woodmark , PTL Equipment, Osborne Wood Products, Inc. , and KTX Group US join us for the visit!

Thank you to Taylor Worley for a great tour and for sharing how this facility will support continued growth in our region. We appreciate our industries taking the time to learn more about the opportunities it will bring to their operations.
