Here’s your Mid America Bank Money Fun Fact of the day! 💵🦌

Ever wonder why we call a dollar a “buck”?

The term dates back to early America, when deer skins (or “bucks”) were commonly traded and used like currency in everyday commerce.

Money has changed a lot since then — but fun financial history never gets old!

A look back at banking innovation in Kansas. 👀

In August 1963, First National Bank in Wichita, now INTRUST Bank, brought its first computer online: a Burroughs B-270 Electronic Data Processor. With room-sized equipment, refrigerator-sized consoles and a high-speed punch-card reader, it was cutting-edge technology for its time.

The system helped bankers access account information faster, reduce errors and better serve customers while strengthening connections with correspondent banks across the region.

A great reminder that innovation in banking has always been about giving bankers better tools to serve their customers and communities.

Thank you to INTRUST Bank for sharing this piece of Kansas banking history!

Kansas banks are deeply connected to the communities they serve, and community awareness matters.

With increased travel and large crowds expected in Kansas City and throughout our state this summer during the World Cup, the Kansas Attorney General’s Office is sharing important information about recognizing the signs of human trafficking. Awareness can make a difference.

Big events bring big crowds — and increased risks. This summer during the World Cup in Kansas City, stay aware of the signs of human trafficking and help protect vulnerable people in our community. Awareness saves lives.

Celebrating 150 years of community banking! 👏

We love seeing the history and growth of Kansas banks through the decades. From its original 1911 structure to the expansion that became First National Center, First National Bank has continued serving its customers and community every step of the way — without missing a day of business during construction.

Congratulations on this incredible milestone and legacy of service! 🎉

The 1970s brought expansion for The First, as we added on to the original 1911 structure to create what is now known as First National Center and our headquarters. Committed to serving our customers, not a day of business was lost during the multi-year construction project.

As we celebrate 150 years, we are grateful for the generations of customers, employees and community members who have walked through these doors and been part of our story!
