Looks like the end of the rainbow found the real pot of gold - our sales. And our pot is overflowing. Our back lot is full of good, but not great furniture. We call it Mrs. Marplethorpe's home for wayward furniture - or, the Last Chance Saloon. IF you want good, but not great, furniture for ridiculously low prices then please ask to see our back lot. We are practically giving some of this away.

Inside we've got lots and lots and lots of GREAT furniture, tools, and building supplies.

But the shining moment is really that all of our sales support our work of providing safe, decent and affordable housing! No leprechaun required because that’s the best treasure.

The Topeka ReStore is open for shopping Thursday to Saturday from 10 - 4. Come on by!

We had a belated celebration for our Construction Manager, Robert today to honor his ten years of service! If you’ve volunteered with Robert before, you know he’s great at leading volunteers, has so much knowledge about his craft to share and is the best teacher.
We ❤️ you, Robert! Thanks for your ten years + of service!

We ended up a little short staffed this week but that just meant that some of us got to spend more time going out and about on this amazing sunshiney day picking up great donations from great donors.

Our store is packed. Our back lot is packed. We’ve got a ton of stuff on the floor and a lot more to process and bring out.

Fortunately we’ve got plenty of great staff and volunteers ready to help tomorrow. That’s it! We are done with 90+ F for 2026!!! Hurray and huzzah and hip hip! I mean sure, it would have been nice if the weather just slowly and gently cooled off. But that’s not the Kansas way. Instead we have 90F on Tuesday and then the wrath of Thor Tuesday night (what happened. Did one of y’all anger his goats?) and then finally actual fall weather.

We were able to get all of our pickups in these last two days - thanks in part to some wonderful volunteers. We’ve got a ton of great tools, building materials, and furniture at the ReStore this week. Do we have appliances?….

We’ve got lots of appliances. We’ve been running and testing washers and dryers and stoves all week. We are not going to list any prices here tonight because there is such a wide variety of makes and models and conditions going on. If you’re interested in one of these - just come down. Our prices are extremely affordable.

And, what’s more, your purchase generates $ for our programs. It’s a win win win.

What a week this has been
What a rare mood we’re in
Why, it’s almost like bein’ in love

There’s a smile on our face
For the whole human race
Why, it’s almost like bein’ in love.

Our job here at the Topeka Habitat ReStore is so great. It’s always fun for us to drive around picking up donations or opening our receiving room door to meet folks that took time out of their day to bring us donations that we can sell to generate money for safe affordable housing.

But in this weather, at this time of year? The bell rings and we open the door to gentle sun-kissed zephyrs and happy singing migrating bird songs, AND wonderful donors with great donations. It's almost overwhelming.

Donations are really stepping up. We've got a store full of furniture and cabinets, and tools and building supplies. But ALSO we have a back lot that is full of all of our overflow. It looks like the rain is going to hold off so all of that stuff is good to go. Our prices are extremely low on account of the laws of supply and demand. If you'd like to look at our back lot, we ask that you, please please, please, first come into the store and ask for a staff member or volunteer to es**rt you back there.

The Topeka Habitat ReStore is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 - 4pm. We are open for donations TUESDAY - Saturday 9 - 3:30.

“The Rain in Spain falls mainly on the plains.” Well we aren’t in Spain but the rain is falling on our plains.

We haven’t let that stop us from venturing out and picking up lots of great donations. Additionally, many of y’all haven’t let a little bit of water stop you from bringing donations down to our store. We are full to the brim and beyond.

To that point, if you have an item you have purchased but haven’t picked up we will be forced to put it back on the floor for resale. You will NOT get a refund. If you want to just donate $ to our cause, there are better ways. If you need help getting the item to your house - ask around - there are lots of people with trucks.

We are open for shopping this week Thursday - Saturday 10 - 4.

But wait! There’s more.

Tomorrow is the first day of October - that means that Friday will be “First Friday” in NOTO. So on Friday 10/2 we will be open until 8pm. Additionally we have a wonderful and talented intern who will be setting up a crafting station - so bring the kids over and let them Art it Up!

We have a season change!!! Sure, this was the hottest summer ever in the continental United States and that’s worrisome, but for now we have cool, misty mornings and high blue skies.

This means a couple things for us at the ReStore
1) when I say “good morning” to my neighbor he is usually wearing a shirt now.
2) our donations start to pick up as people can spend more time cleaning out their sheds without getting heatstroke.
3) the ReStore will be full of great donations for you to purchase to generate money for safe, affordable housing.

Remember, if you’d like to make a donation, you can bring it by our store Tuesday - Saturday 9 - 3:30. If you’d like to schedule a pickup for larger items, give us a call at 785.783.7670. We try to get our pickups done on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Our schedule fills up quickly, so plan ahead. If you are waiting for a call back, please be patient. We have a small team and we’re busy busy busy, but we WILL get back to you.
